A second shooting involving immigration agents leaves two injured in Portland
The Department of Homeland Security says the perpetrators are members of the border patrol and that the victims were linked to the Tren de Aragua gang.

The spokeswoman stated that "the driver is believed to be a member" of the Tren de Aragua gang, while the passenger with him "is an undocumented Venezuelan national affiliated with the Tren de Aragua transnational prostitution ring and implicated in a recent shooting in Portland." According to the DHS, the driver allegedly tried to run over the agents when they identified themselves as CBP officers. "Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired in self-defense. The driver fled with the passenger and left the area," McLaughlin said.
Initially, the FBI also published a statement on X confirming that ICE agents were involved in the incident, but it has since removed it. Portland Police Chief Bob Day has asked the public to "remain calm" while authorities—including the FBI—continue investigating the case. "We understand the immense emotional burden and tension many people are feeling following the shooting in Minneapolis, but I ask the community to remain calm while we work to gather more details," Day said. Portland Mayor Keith Wilson issued a statement condemning the attack. "We cannot stand idly by while constitutional protections are eroded and tensions escalate," Wilson wrote, calling for ICE to leave the city: "Portland is not a training ground for militarized agents, and the full force with which they threaten the administration has deadly consequences. We urge that a thorough investigation be completed."
