Russia says it has moved nuclear-capable missiles to Belarus
Vladimir Putin claims that these weapons are impossible to intercept.
Russia has released a video in which it claims to have Oreshnik missiles movedThe nuclear-capable Belarus, a neighboring ally that borders Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia—all NATO members—would allow Moscow to deliver these missiles to targets across Europe more quickly, in the midst of a war.
According to the TASS news agency, this is the first time the Russian Ministry of Defense has publicly displayed the Oreshnik missile systems. Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that these weapons are impossible to intercept because they supposedly travel 10 times faster than the speed of sound. He also maintains that they have a destructive power comparable to that of a nuclear weapon. The video from the Russian and Belarusian defense ministries did not specify the missile systems' location in Belarus, but it showed a wooded area where they were camouflaged with netting.
