BarcelonaThe 25th edition of The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, held in Tianjin, has served to strengthen ties between Russia, China, and India in a bid to counter Western hegemony. Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged members of the bloc to oppose "the Cold War mentality, the confrontation of factions, and the bullying behavior" of the West.

During his speech, which featured leaders including Russia's Vladimir Putin, India's Narendra Modi, and Iran's Masoud Pezeshkian, Xi declared that the SCO practices "true multilateralism" in a world he described as "turbulent and changing."

Russian President Vladimir Putin, China's guest of honor at this meeting, has emphasized this idea of confrontation with the Western Bloc and has repeated the message that the war in Ukraine is the fault of Western countries for their "constant attempts to drag NATO into Ukraine" supporting and provoking the West.

Putin has thanked the "efforts" of China, India and "other partners" of the SCO blog to end the war in Ukraine. He also said that he hopes that the "understanding reached" at the meeting with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in Alaska "will pave the way for peace." Both China and Russia have long promoted the SCO as an alternative military alliance to NATO.

The summit has highlighted the rapprochement of these three powers, which are trying to gain weight and end the hegemony of the United States in the world order. On the sidelines of the meeting, cameras have captured Modi shaking Putin's hand as they walked towards the Chinese president, the three smiling as they spoke, surrounded by translators.

To strengthen ties between non-Western countries, Xi Jinping has proposed that SCO partners "step up cooperation in energy, green industry, the digital economy, scientific innovation, and artificial intelligence" and "strengthen regional connectivity," with projects such as intra-China freight trains. He also called for "respecting differences, maintaining strategic communication, and strengthening practical cooperation."
