A massive forest fire has burned more than 4,000 hectares in southern France.

Smoke from a forest fire affecting the French department of Aude, in Occitania, is now reaching the Empordà region. The fire, which broke out this afternoon, has already burned some 4,000 hectares of forest vegetation and is spreading rapidly, driven by the strong winds blowing in the area.
