The Espai Gironès Christmas charity campaign is aimed at combating loneliness among the elderly.
It's the fortnight of this shopping center, which in 2025 will have turned twenty years old
Leap"This Christmas, every piece counts." With this motto, the fifteenth annual Espai Gironès Christmas charity campaign aims to support the projects of the Friends of the Elderly Foundation, which offers companionship, emotional support, and social integration to senior citizens in Girona, helping to combat isolation and unwanted loneliness. The campaign was presented by the shopping center's manager, Pau Jordà; the Foundation's director, Laura López; and the initiative's patrons: Marc Gasol, president of Bàsquet Girona; Pep Busquets, a player for Bàsquet Girona; and Ainhoa López, a player for Spar Girona. Espai Gironès has created a giant jigsaw puzzle, located in the food court. To participate in the campaign, simply fit one of the thousands of puzzle pieces together to complete a very special image. Each piece will be donated to the Amics de la Gent Gran Foundation and will provide companionship and well-being to elderly people in the Girona region who suffer from loneliness and need support.
There is also the option to make a voluntary donation individually by card or cash in a donation box located in the same area as the puzzle, or via Bizum using the QR code found on various displays throughout the shopping center, where information about the campaign and the organization's projects is also available. A final option is to sign up as a volunteer with the Foundation and dedicate some time to accompanying people who live alone. To complement the main activity and offer an even more complete experience for families at Espai Gironès, children's workshops will be held in the same area as the giant puzzle. Children participating in the campaign will be able to draw their own puzzle and take it home as a gift. Participation is free, but you can also make any voluntary donation you wish, which will contribute to increasing the final donation to the Amics de la Gent Gran Foundation.
