You eat like you're at home and they tell you in Japanese: 'Omakase'

Brothers Jonathan and Robby Jara are at the helm of the Jara Sushi Omakase restaurant, located in the Putxet neighborhood of Barcelona.

BarcelonaJara Sushi Omakase (c. Padua, 108) is a dream come true for diners who want to eat well but are tired of deciding what to order by reading the names of dishes on a written menu. Clearly, we're not here to be against paper menus (yes, paper menus, please!), but rather against the idea of having to choose or create a menu based on written suggestions. At Omakase, they cook for you like you would at home; you eat what the chef decides, but they tell you in Japanese, because omakase This means you trust the chef, who chooses what you'll eat. An important note: you can tell him your food preferences and intolerances, as well as your budget, but from there the two brothers, Jonathan (in the kitchen) and Robby (in the dining room), prepare a menu focused on sushi.

Seated at one of the fourteen chairs at the square bar or at one of the tables in the restaurant, they will explain what they are preparing. They will also show you the fish from which they prepare the dishes right in front of you. Rice is essential, of course, which they buy from the producer Albert Grassot in Pals, and which they cook wonderfully. Next comes the fish, always whatever is available at the market that day, because it's fresh. The tuna, from the Arrom brand; the wasabi, from Montseny; and even the whisky itself, The Yamazaki, a 12-year-old Japanese whisky, will be shown to you as they use it.

Bubbles and sakes

The wine and sparkling wine list features selections from Corpinnat, as well as French bubbles. The still wines showcase Catalan wines. This is the personal touch of Robby Jara, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the dining room, who has sought the advice of the respected sommelier Xavi Nolla. Those who particularly enjoy sake should ask Robby for recommendations; he has collaborated with Sake in Motion, Hand Crafted Sake Chartir, and Sake Iwa to create a contemporary sake list. Finally, the price: the omakase menu costs 85 euros, and the à la carte option, which is also available, is the same price. And one last interesting fact: the restaurant has just celebrated its first year and a half and has already earned the respect of the industry. Pay special attention to the synergy between the two brothers: the mastery of the head waiter, Robby, and the chef, Jonathan.
