This Friday, the Conference of Presidents is being held in Barcelona. The meeting took place amid high tension between the executive branch of Spanish President Pedro Sánchez and the People's Party (PP), which called for early elections. Tensions loomed over the meeting: a tense moment erupted from the very beginning. between the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and Mónica García, Minister of HealthAyuso also gave the note in the middle of the meeting, when has decided to leave the room after Catalan and Basque were spoken. He had previously starred in a tense handshake with the President of the Generalitat and host of the meeting, Salvador Illa.

After so many delicate moments, the relaxation of tension has arrived at lunchtime. And what did the protagonists of the day eat? The menu was prepared by famous chef Carles Gaig, who prepared a truly Catalan meal for the regional presidents, Pedro Sánchez, and the rest of the members of the Council of Ministers.

Among the main dishes, the leaders ate a xató salad with anchovies from the Costa Brava, a cannelloni with black truffle cream from Osona, a suquet from the fishermen's box, and a fricassee of Girona veal with mushrooms. For dessert, they had Catalan cream and a recooked rago with honey and a hazelnut crunch from Reus. The menu was accompanied by local wines, and you could choose between a red wine, the Abadal Picapoll DO Pla de Bages, or a white wine, Les Terrasses DO Priorat.

And the journalists, what did they eat?

Less glamorous was the luncheon for the news professionals covering the meeting. The menu consisted of a plate of salad, albeit a limited variety, and a pan of hot pot. Carles Gaig's influence was lacking here, and the journalists had to settle for describing the presidents' tasting menu.
