Nerea Sanfe: "The wine world has been sold to us as elitist, but it really isn't."

It's your third year in theAPM? Is humor like having one too many?

— You let go. Thanks to a smile, I've been able to make jars.To people, like politicians, who would have been less well-received on a more serious show. When people see you're in a good mood, it helps a lot. A confident woman.

In an episode of Catalonia where it fails You did the grape harvest. Have you ever had any similar experiences?

— As a child, at school, we had taken the typical tour of a vineyard in Requena and crushed grapes with our feet. But visiting the Torelló Mata family, such a fun family, was very cool, very different. I had visited wineries, but not cava wineries. And the whole winery was my own.

What caught your attention?

— I had never seen a bottle of cava sit in a certain position for years, only to have to be moved around for the wine to ferment. I never imagined that a bottle of cava, which is so easy to buy and drink in a store, would go through such a difficult process. heavyI said, "What madness is this!"

What's wrong with the wine world?

— It can be a bit elitist. Although I think we have a misconception, with sommeliers and all the paraphernalia. When I've visited wineries, I've seen that those dedicated to winemaking are ordinary people, country folk. This world has been sold to us as elitist, but it really isn't. We need to bring it closer to the people.

Do you identify with the image of the Valencian festive?

— Stereotypes are good for humor, but they tire me out a bit. In the end, each person is who they are. But I think it's true that we are partygoers. No partygoers Not because of alcohol and drugs, but because we enjoy a band or a popular festival. I think it's a 100% Valencian attitude. It's in our blood.

You live between Valencia and Catalonia. Valencians and Catalans...

— We have a very similar culture. We're very united by the shared language, a very similar climate, similar landscapes, Mediterranean food... although the paella is much better in Valencia!

Do we relate equally to wine?

— I think so. There are very good wines in Catalonia and the Valencian Community.

Any recommendations?

— Requena is a hub. But Alicante has very good wine. I'm a big fan of white wine, and my favorite is Bahía de Dénia. It's a smooth wine that pairs with everything. It's perfect. It costs six euros and is sold in almost every supermarket. I like that it's affordable for everyone.

And what should we never offer you?

— I don't really like red wine. It seems too dry. It's a pain in the ass. And wines that sound like muscatel but aren't, either. A misteleta? Okay. But it's one or the other.

After your experience in StreetDo you think you know Catalonia better than Valencia?

— I know Valencia best because it's my hometown. But I could easily be a tourist guide for Catalonia. In these three years, I've visited more places in Catalonia than many Catalans. I've been to villages and had experiences that perhaps a person from here hasn't had.

What surprised you the most?

— I never imagined there were so many fairytale villages. I've seen beautiful rivers, little houses, castles, walls... I've eaten wonderfully well in village restaurants with only a hundred inhabitants. We have it all. You don't have to travel outside of Catalonia to find wonders.
