Casa Sanzano: the best ice cream in the world in Barcelona
Today we're going for a fresh recommendation, and we're stopping at an ice cream shop in Barcelona. It's an old favorite, but if you haven't been during the move, you might have lost track of it: it's Casa Sanzano. As we mentioned, we used to find the ice cream shop in the Gothic Quarter (on Anselm Clavé Street) and now it's in the Eixample district, on Lepant Street, on the corner of Mallorca Street. They've changed their location, but not the quality of what they serve; we'll go next. At Casa Sanzano. There has always been a commitment to daring tastes, such as salty ice creams, as well as to offer other products that may interest their customers, such as churros, baclavas, cookies, milkshakes, cold coffees or a good affogato (coffee with vanilla ice cream).
It's the project of Daniel Viadé, who bears his grandmother's second surname. A fine tribute. The ice creams they serve are artisanal and multi-award-winning, as they are the only ones in Barcelona with an Angelo Ice Cream in the city. Readers from the Girona region are sure to be familiar with Angelo Corvitto, the world's best ice cream maker. In his workshop in Torroella de Montgrí, he and his son Hervé make ice creams for all tastes and take on the challenge of designing impossible combinations (for everyone except him) geared toward the high standard. If you want to try Corvitto's fantastic creations and salary in Barcelona, you can only be at Casa Sanzano, where they have no problem letting customers try all the flavors until they're sure which one they'll choose.
