The OECD improves its growth forecast for Spain to 2.2%
The international organization also increases its inflation expectation to 3.3%
The Spanish economy will maintain a "resilient" growth rate despite the conflict in the Middle East and international uncertainty, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which has revised its expansion forecast for Spain in 2026 up by a tenth, to 2.3. In parallel, however, it has also increased its inflation expectation, which will reach 3.3% this year.
The think tank of advanced economies thus undoes the one-tenth reduction in the forecast for the increase in Spanish gross domestic product (GDP) for 2026 announced in March after the start of the war in Iran, while it continues to project a GDP expansion of 1.7% for 2027.
In this way, Spain remains the advanced economy with the best performance expected by the OECD this year. The State surpasses the 0.8% forecast for the eurozone and also the 2% growth projected for the United States.
