Hotels Bestprice gives shares to all staff, from chambermaids to managers
The Catalan chain, which is listed on Euronext Paris with a market capitalization of around 85.7 million, highlights that all of its staff is permanent
BarcelonaHotels Bestprice has culminated its incentive plan through shares, which includes chambermaids and reception and maintenance staff, in addition to executives. The Catalan hotel chain's program, which extends to practically the entire workforce, has been promoted by the board of directors "as a formula for recognizing the commitment, effort, and extraordinary contribution of professionals who have played a relevant role in the company's evolution in recent years," according to a statement. According to company sources, this measure benefits around 80% of the workforce, which is who could benefit from it. The only requirement to do so is to have been working at the company for one year or more.
"Companies are built by people. And we firmly believe that those who contribute decisively to creating value must also have the opportunity to participate in it, and the more the better," says Óscar Sánchez, president of the chain. The shares issued are traded on the Euronext Paris stock market, with a capitalization currently of 85.7 million euros. CaixaBank, BBVA, Banc Sabadell, Banc Santander, Degiro, MyInvestor, Renta4, ING, and Interactive Brokers support the company with stock brokerage. Thanks to this plan, a large part of the employees become shareholders and "directly participate in the value generated by the group's growth".
"Unique Management"
The Share Incentive plan is part of "a unique management philosophy and corporate culture that has accompanied Hotels Bestprice since its inception and that places people at the center of its growth strategy". The company highlights that "all employees are permanent and no subcontracting or temporary employment agencies (ETTs)" (temporary employment companies) are used.
The company, owned by brothers Óscar and Juan Antonio Sánchez Rodríguez, considers that "motivation, involvement, and a sense of belonging" are key factors for maintaining the high standards of quality, profitability, management efficiency, and customer satisfaction that characterize the brand.
