Woody Allen "extremely shocked and upset" by Diane Keaton's death

Hollywood actors and actresses remember the actress who died this Saturday at the age of 79.

BarcelonaFilm director Woody Allen is "extremely surprised and shocked" by the death of actress Diane Keaton, according to a source close to the filmmaker and has picked up the magazine PeopleThe director formed with Keaton one of the most prolific film partnerships in Hollywood and they collaborated on eight films, including the legendary Annie Hall which earned the actress an Oscar. Keaton and Allen briefly dated in the early 1970s, then remained friends for a long time.

Some users have shared on social media the speech the filmmaker gave in 2017 during the tribute he dedicated to the actress at the American Film Institute for her lifetime achievement.

The outpouring of condolences for the actress's death has been multiplying after learning of her death this Saturday in California, for reasons that are still unknown.

Actress Bette Midler, with whom Keaton shared the screen in The First Women's Club (1996), has published a photo of herself on her Instagram account with this message: "I cannot express to you the unbearable sadness this causes me. She was hilarious, completely original and without any malice, and without the competitiveness that one would expect from a star like that."

Another of the actresses with whom he starred The First Women's Club, Goldie Hawn, also wanted to pay her own tribute to the actress through social media. In a post on Instagram she said: "I was very lucky to do The First Women's Club with you. Our days began with coffee in the makeup van, laughing and joking, until the last day of filming. It was a rollercoaster of love. We had agreed to grow up together and one day, maybe, live together with all our friends. We'll never live together, but we have grown up together. Who knows, maybe in another life."

Actress Kate Hudson, daughter of Goldie Hawn, also shared her condolences on social media: "We love you so much, Diane."

Another of Hollywood's veteran actresses, Jane Fonda, wanted to remember Keaton: "She was always a spark of life and light, always laughing at her own weaknesses, being infinitely creative in her roles, looks, books, friendships, houses, library, her worldview. Unique, that's what she was. And, even if she didn't know it or didn't want to admit it, she was a great actress!

Robert de Niro also wanted to express his farewell on social media with a post on the X network.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who shared two films with her, said in statements to the magazineVarietythat Keaton was a great inspiration. "I had the great privilege of witnessing his unique skill and talent both in The First Women's Club as The jewel of the family. I will treasure these memories from the set, as well as her moving, charming and utterly personal film career, which is a precious legacy of an exquisite person. She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace."

Actor Ben Stiller told X: "Diane Keaton. One of the greatest actresses in history. An icon of style, humor and comedy. Brilliant. What a person."
