The Salsón Festival postpones its first edition, which was to be held at the Parc del Fòrum in October

BarcelonaConcert promoter The Project postpones the first edition of the Salsón Barcelona Festival, which was to be held on October 2 and 3, according to what has been reported El Periódicoand has confirmed ARA. The reason for the cancellation is the impossibility of hiring suitable headliners. "We had a super headliner, but in the end it couldn't be," explains Tito Ramoneda, executive president of The Project, to ARA. However, the promoter is working on the 2027 edition of a festival designed for a daily capacity of 9,000 people. "Before running the risk this year, we prefer to prepare next year's festival," adds Ramoneda, who recalls the importance of headliners who sell tickets.

The Salsón Festival is one of the five that won the competition launched by Barcelona City Council to hold festivals at Parc del Fòrum, in addition to Primavera Sound and Cruïlla, which operate under an agreement. Another of the winners, QU4TRE, organized by Sala Apolo, renounced it a few months ago. The other winners, who are maintaining their scheduled agenda for 2026, were Telecogresca, Brunch Elektronic, and Festival B. Other musical events are also held at the Fòrum, such as the Colombian National Day on July 26 (with performances by Jessi Uribe and Tromboranga) and the Ecuadorian National Day (with concerts by Grupo Niche, Gerardo Morán y su Orquesta, among others) on August 2.

The Project, which in the nineties organized concerts by salsa legends like Celia Cruz, and which this same year is programming Rubén Blades at the new Barts Festival in Poble Espanyol, decided to launch Salsón after noting the good reception that great salsa artists have in Barcelona, where musicians like Juan Luis Guerra fill the Palau Sant Jordi, and where others like Blades, Grupo Niche, and Guerra himself will perform at Cruïlla, a festival that for a couple of editions had a special sensitivity towards salsa.
