BarcelonaThe Prosecutor's Office has requested this Thursday a sentence of 18 months of exempt prison for the French actor Gérard Depardieu for the sexual assaults that he allegedly committed against a set decorator and an assistant director of the film The green shutters, during the filming of the movie in September 2021.

The request comes after the actor on Tuesday denied all accusations to the courts"I don't see why I should enjoy groping a woman on a film set. I'm not a groper. There are many vices I really don't know," she said.

Film set decorator Amélie Kyndt claims that during filming, Depardieu caught her between the legs and hit her from the waist to the chest, while the assistant director – who uses the false name Sarah – says the actor assaulted her up to three times during the making of the film.

In Thursday's session of the trial, which will be reviewed for sentencing, Kyndt's lawyer denounced the "system of impunity" that has protected the actor after having committed assaults "for decades," and linked it to his being "an artistic and economic powerhouse" in the film industry.

The lawyer requests that, in addition to the sentence, the actor be ordered to pay 22,000 euros in compensation for moral damages, a concept for which Sarah's defense is requesting 20,000 euros.

Depardieu, 76, has a long career with more than 250 films and has received in recent yearsnumerous accusations of sexual assault, coinciding with the outbreak of the Me Too movement around the world. The alleged attacks of The green shuttersHowever, they are the first to go to trial.
