BarcelonaThe philosopher Victoria Camps, the writer Maite Carranza, the artist Joan Fontcuberta, actors Sílvia Munt and Enric Majó, and journalist Julia Otero are some of the 20 individuals and 10 entities that the Government has recognized this year with the Creus de Sant Jordi for their careers, at the proposal of the Minister of Culture, Sònia Hernández, and as reported by the ACN. The distinctions recognize the outstanding services they have rendered to Catalonia in the defense of its identity or in the civic and cultural sphere.

The archivist and historian Ramon Alberch, the ceramicist and painter Maria Àngels Domingo, the voice actress Maria Lluïsa Solà, and the fashion designer Roser Marcé have also been recognized for their work, as well as the doctor, historian, and Catalan writer of Palestinian origin Salah Jamal, for his "commitment to intercultural dialogue and the dissemination of knowledge about the Arab and Islamic world".

Likewise, the Creu de Sant Jordi will be awarded to the businessmen Jordi Miquel Martí, honorary president of Moventia, which offers mobility and transport services; the president of the Sorigué group and the Sorigué Foundation, Anna Vallès; wine businessmen Ernestina Torelló and Miguel Agustín Torres, and the co-founder of Grup Som Via, Carmen Armengol, for her social commitment in the fields of mental health and intellectual disability. Furthermore, the Catalan executive's distinctions recognize the researcher in psychology and education Ignasi Vila, for his contribution to the development of the school linguistic immersion model in Catalonia. The chef Fermí Puig, the educator and social activist Enric Morist, and the theologian Josep Rius are this year's Creus de Sant Jordi posthumously.

Ten awarded entities

Regarding the entities that have also received the Creu Sant Jordi, they are the University of Barcelona, the Ernest Lluch Foundation, the Agrupació Coral Flors d'Urgell, the Benissanet Music Band, the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia, the Coral Capella Santa Maria de Puigcerdà, the Pau Casals Foundation, the Grup Cultural de la Dona de Solivella, the Pastorets de Calaf, and T'Acompanyem, which works with people who are unemployed and promotes the labor insertion and social inclusion of vulnerable groups.
