Pau Riba: Diopter, 55 – Like a Midsummer Night's Dream It is a joint production of TRESC, Festival Grec, and Abacus to celebrate the legacy of one of the most notable albums of Catalan rock. Released in two parts between 1970 and 1971, Diopter It represented a true stylistic revolution and a provocation to the Catalan bourgeoisie: "It means my revolt against the family, the petite bourgeoisie and against what was then called The culture", said Pau Riba himself in an interview in The VueltaThe goal of the show, according to Segarra, is to celebrate that legacy and do so from an emotional and sentimental perspective. Caïm Riba recalls the "improvised tributes" that took place after his father's death and asserts that they didn't have a broad enough vision. "El Grec is a very iconic venue," he adds, explaining that his feeling when putting together the show was to do it right.
Caïm Riba was clear from the start that the band that should play the songs at the tribute was De Mortimers. "I also thought they would save me a lot of work, because they knew everything," he adds. The group remembers the last concerts they performed with Pau Riba as a joy, because they had a lot of freedom to interpret the songs in their own way. Now they will play them again, but with vocals from other musicians who, as Lia Queralt (the band's keyboardist and vocalist) says, are also key figures: "It will be an intense day," she confesses. Pau Riba's five children have also joined together to perform one of the songs together, a "beautiful song," says Caïm Riba without going into details.
