It has been confirmed that the Antiguo de Amposta settlement was already inhabited more than 2,700 years ago.

The latest archaeological campaign at the Antiguo de Amposta site in Montsià has confirmed that the settlement began to be inhabited in the Early Iron Age, more than 2,700 years ago. The discovery of a tripod mortar and Phoenician ceramics date the settlement to 700 BC, during the pre-Iberian period.
