Guided tours of the exhibitions at La Pedrera, one of the most requested activities of the Premium Club
The ARA's loyal supporters have enjoyed discovering the universe of the Basque artist Cristina Iglesias
One of the main proposals on the cultural agenda of the Catalonia La Pedrera Foundation These are the art exhibitions. Visiting them, in addition to being able to enter this building on Barcelona's Passeig de Gràcia, designed by Gaudí at the height of his career, allows you to get to know great contemporary artists. ARA Premium Club has visited numerous exhibitions of the Catalonia La Pedrera Foundation, such as those dedicated to Miquel Barceló, Antonio López, Jaume Plensa, Stone art (of various artists)... The most recent visit was to the exhibition of Basque sculptor Cristina Iglesias, which sold out. Some of the club's most active members, as well as new members, enjoyed the visit. It was a great discovery for all of them.
"Touch, touch! Spread your palm evenly over this surface," the guide instructed the visitors. "How does it feel?" she asked. "Wow, it's a very rough wall," more than one person replied. All the senses are engaged while visiting this exhibition. For example, hearing: in several places there are pools of flowing water, and its sound accompanies the visitors.
The guide, very educational, and the joke –has done Making the audience laugh with her comments when the power went out briefly—she provided a wealth of information to help us understand the universe of this artist, who has masterfully fused nature, architecture, and sculpture. Although Cristina Iglesias is not widely known in Catalonia, she is well-known in numerous countries. She has presented exhibitions in international museums such as the Guggenheim in New York, the Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Whitechapel Museum in London, and the Grenoble Museum. Iglesias has sculptures in many cities, and even in the Amazon rainforest and on the ocean floor.
The ARA continues to offer a wide range of activities throughout the country for Premium Club members. Among the following activities are the following: Visit to the old quarter of Banyoles, this January 14th, and in San Benito Worldwith lunch included, on February 1st. We are also preparing meetings with journalists and collaborators of the ARA on current issues, which we will announce shortly.
