David Toscana wins the Alfaguara prize with a dark fable about the Byzantine emperor Basil II

Mexican writer David Toscana has won the 2026 Alfaguara Novel Prize with his work The blind armyThe prize includes $175,000 and publication of the novel. The book will be available in bookstores on March 26.
