Taylor Swift's "royal" wedding blocks downtown New York

The singer and her partner, the athlete Travis Kelce, will get married in a monumental party at Madison Square Garden

BarcelonaIt is one of the weddings of the year and some have even called it "the royal wedding of America". Singer Taylor Swift and American football player Travis Kelce are getting married this weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York, and the ceremony has already altered life in the city center: the streets adjacent to the venue are closed and will remain so all weekend. On Thursday, the couple organized a pre-wedding dinner which was already attended by a select group of 100 guests. The big party, however, will take place this Friday, with the city in the midst of a heatwave. An event that will have a thousand guests, including celebrities such as Bradley Cooper and his partner, Gigi Hadid, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Antonoff (Swift's producer), Ed Sheeran, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lena Dunham, among others.

For days, a huge team of workers has been getting everything ready for the celebration, and many trucks have been seen unloading materials and food at Madison Square Garden. Paparazzi monitoring the area have detected decorative elements, such as a structure that could be a castle and plants and flowers to recreate a garden, as well as boxes of lobsters. Additionally, the venue's windows have been covered with pink curtains.

According to American media, Friday's party will also feature several performances. While media outlets around the world are waiting to see what happens inside the venue, the digital publication Page Six assures that the couple has already legally married. This private wedding, with only the closest guests, is said to have taken place in Nashville, the city Swift moved to at age 14 to boost her career as a country singer.

Despite the extravagance and the mammoth scale of the celebration, Swift and Kelce also wanted to demonstrate their social consciousness in the days leading up to the wedding. As a representative for the singer confirmed to "People" magazine, the couple has made a donation of 26 million dollars, which has been distributed among various social and charitable organizations. One of the organizations that has benefited from the couple's solidarity is City Harvest NYC, an entity dedicated to preventing food waste. Through their Instagram, they have confirmed that they have received a donation of one million dollars from the couple. "This million dollars will help City Harvest provide food for more than 2.4 million New Yorkers at risk," they explained.
