Italian ambassador to DRC killed in attack on UN convoy

The Italian ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Luca Attanasio, was killed on Monday when a UN convoy was attacked in the east of the country. A military policeman accompanying him was also killed. The attackers intended to kidnap UN personnel, according to sources in the country.
