The TC rules and Puigdemont will arrive in time for the campaign

Both Sánchez and Puigdemont are fine with the president's return from exile catching them with their definitive relations broken, and even more so, in an election campaign

The Constitutional Court plans to approve today the ruling by which it will order the Supreme Court to apply the amnesty once and for all. After this ruling, it will be necessary to wait for the Supreme Court to archive the case and for Judge Llarena to annul the arrest warrant for Puigdemont, Puig, and Comín so that they can return to Catalonia without the risk of being arrested.

What would have been the big news of the day is subsumed into the announcement of elections for November 29. Puigdemont will return as president in exile, he will be received at the Palau de la Generalitat, and I am sure he will be received everywhere with displays of popular warmth, even though another sentence has fallen upon both him and Junqueras, this one dictated from within the independence movement, which makes them guilty of the failure of the 2017 attempt. Be that as it may, everything suggests that Junts will be able to hold, for the first time in nine years, an electoral campaign with its leader in freedom. Now we will know what magic he is still capable of retaining and what his state of mind is after nine years of coming to think that perhaps he would never be able to return again. And although Puigdemont will return mired in Junts' vote against the two housing decrees, it is also true that a part of his voters (the majority of rental apartments in Catalonia belong to owners of a single rental apartment) have seen in Junts' position a defense of their interests, and in an election in which Aliança Catalana is not running, the Catalan law-and-order vote may lean clearly towards Junts.

It suits both Sánchez and Puigdemont that the return of the president in exile catches them with their definitive relationships broken, and even more so, in the competition of an electoral campaign. In fact, Junts has always said that it did not feel part of any parliamentary majority but, simply, of an investiture majority. No one wanted the photo of both of them together. Sánchez will certainly hear himself called a traitor again for having approved the amnesty law.

We will continue to talk about housing, and a lot. Yesterday there was a demonstration in Barcelona, where it was made very clear that before the elections there will be a general strike, which the major unions have already said they will call. On the street, last night, in the center of Barcelona there were incidents, clashes with the Mossos, and arrests. If anyone wanted a hot autumn, they have it.
