BarcelonaThe publication of the call for early elections in the Official State Gazette (BOE) kicked off the pre-campaign this Tuesday. Pedro Sánchez is looking to rally the progressive vote mobilized by the housing crisis and turn around the results predicted by the polls, which give a majority to the right and the far-right. Everything will depend, however, on the correlation of forces resulting from the polls on November 29, and many eyes during the campaign will be on Junts, which already tipped the balance in this last Spanish legislative term. A position of calculated balance and equidistance is expected from the Junts members during the campaign, but the spokesperson in Madrid, Miriam Nogueras, has already assured that they will not facilitate a government led by the PP and Vox.
Do they rule it out? "Absolutely," she replied in an interview with Catalunya Ràdio. "With our votes, the PP and Vox will not govern; I cannot be more explicit," she insisted when asked again about the same issue. She did not clarify, however, whether this means they would once again facilitate a Pedro Sánchez government, which they have just led to call elections due to their 'no' vote on the housing decrees. Nogueras has claimed the Junts members are "the ones in the middle" and stated: "We will not choose between the two extremes." A position that could be called into question if their votes are once again decisive after November 29.
The spokesperson limited herself to recalling that after the last Spanish elections they already "prevented" a government of the Spanish right and far-right and that they gave an "opportunity" to Pedro Sánchez that "he did not know how to take advantage of." Nevertheless, she criticized that, in her opinion, they are being blamed for the end of the Spanish legislative term and the calling of elections. "We have ended up being the target and the culprits," she lamented.
