Antoni Bassas' analysis: 'The PSOE is using Rosalía to praise Pedro Sánchez'

"Point of view: when you choose to listen to Rosalía because everything else is a circus." I don't know if the artist will be thrilled to have Pedro Sánchez as her companion. But this is the stuff political communication is made of today. The idea that "politics is pedagogy" is long gone.

The week ends with Mazón asking for time to reflect.

If he's being sincere, it's very serious. Because if he needed to be insulted in front of everyone at Wednesday's event in Valencia to understand what people think of him, where has he been living until now? Did he believe his own lies? Did he think everyone was like the 160 officials he gathered to applaud him? Does he think people only watch the bullfights on À Punt while thousands of Valencians demonstrate in the city center? He's saying this to buy time and ultimately secure a personal (legal) and professional way out, because he's already seen that even his own people have turned against him.

Mazón's presidency is a rotten core to the PP that has persisted for a year because Feijóo lacked the necessary authority to force him to back down on day one. Perhaps he thought that 229 deaths due to negligent management were a crisis that could be handled with the usual lies.

Moreover, the PP can't handle Pedro Sánchez. Feijóo's strategists had the brilliant idea of summoning the Spanish president to the Senate's investigation committee into corruption within the PSOE. Sánchez came out relatively unscathed, thanks to his skill and the clumsiness of the PP. Sánchez would take the questions and make the answers last forever. He diverted attention, confused the senators, belittled the commission by making headlines for the media: "This is a circus," he said repeatedly, and today he's on every front page. He even debuted new glasses to project an image of seriousness in the face of the accusations. The PSOE has boasted about this message on social media:

A message that essentially tells us to stay calm, that Sánchez knows a lot about traveling the world and won't be easily caught.

Sánchez won, yes, but the democratic system lostHe has a PSOE organizing secretary in prison and another facing charges. His Peugeot driver was recorded talking about prostitutes, money, and gifts. But yesterday he dodged any explanation that might incriminate him, because the others don't know any more. And, as the apotheosis of his final triumph, his party presents him as Rosalía's celestial music before the horsemen of the popular apocalypse, who only know how to call.

You can see the text in the video, which says: "Point of view: when you choose to listen to Rosalía because everything else is a circus." I don't know if the artist will be amused to have Pedro Sánchez as her companion. But this is the kind of material political communication is made with today. The idea that "politics is pedagogy" is long gone.

Good morning.
