BarcelonaThe wind, blowing strongly from the west and northwest, has returned between Monday and tonight in various areas of central and southern Spain, in the northern Alt Empordà region, and at high elevations in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees. Notable gusts include 132 km/h in Espot (2,519 m in Pallars Sobirà), 123 km/h in Port del Comte (2,290 m in Solsonès), 119 km/h in Portbou (Alt Empordà), 108 km/h in Ulldeter (2,413 m in Ripollès), 96 km/h in Montserrat, and 92 km/h in El Perelló (Baix Ebre). Today the wind will gradually decrease, but will not disappear completely. All this is in anticipation of another episode of strong winds expected on Thursday. It will affect many regions, especially those of Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida, and the Pyrenees. This week, the storms will circulate at latitudes somewhat further north than ours, meaning we won't have any significant rainfall events in the medium term. However, these storms will continue to send some weakened fronts that will maintain these windy conditions across our country, mainly from the west and northwest, as well as precipitation in the Pyrenees and nearby areas.

Forecast map for this Tuesday morning.

Tuesday: Less wind and lower temperatures

After the strong winds of the last few hours, the wind will clearly ease throughout Tuesday, although it won't disappear completely, remaining moderate, especially in the southern half of the region. Calm conditions will prevail, with plenty of sunshine interspersed with bands of clouds. Overall, it will be a pleasant day, with only some afternoon cloud cover in the northeast bringing a few light, scattered showers, mainly between Ripollès and the Transversal mountain range. The amount of rain expected will be minimal. Separately, some light and intermittent precipitation is expected on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees and the rest of the western Pyrenees, especially in the morning, with the snow level starting at 1,100 meters and rising to 1,700 meters.

Forecast map for this Tuesday afternoon.

Temperatures will drop after Monday's mild peak. The decrease will be most noticeable in the Pyrenees and the Girona and Barcelona regions, where most highs will range between 13°C and 17°C. In contrast, temperatures will remain similar in the south and the western part of the country, with the highest highs between 18°C and 23°C.

Waiting for a new storm

Wednesday will be a relatively calm and quite productive day, but a new Atlantic storm will send a front in the late hours, bringing more rain to the Pyrenees and some showers to the rest of northern Spain between night and early morning. Above all, it will usher in a new and strong wind that could become quite widespread again on Thursday.

The strongest winds are expected in the Barcelona, Tarragona, and Lleida regions, as well as in the Pyrenees. This is a situation we will need to monitor and manage. Rain will return to the Pyrenees on Thursday, with the snow level dropping to 1,000 or 1,100 meters. There will also be some showers in the northeast.
