Weekend with two faces: a day of umbrellas and another more usable
The passage of a front will cause a streak of general rain
BarcelonaA weekend begins that will have two different faces in terms of weather. We will start it with the passage of a front associated with an Atlantic low located in the west of the peninsula, which will cause a rather gray day and a general ration of rain that will sweep the entire country from south to north, especially from the afternoon onwards, although during the early morning we have already had local showers in some places. Large quantities are not expected, although some locally intense storm is not ruled out, especially in the Terres de l'Ebre. An umbrella is essential on Saturday, but, on the other hand, on Sunday calm and sun will once again dominate, with only some afternoon showers in the west. Temperatures will begin to rise from then on.
Saturday: rain front
The weekend will start very eventful and with an eye on the sky. Cloudiness will increase rapidly throughout the morning, and the first scattered showers will be able to escape, especially in coastal areas and in the southern half of the country. Transitorily, dust suspended from North Africa will increase, so the water will be accompanied by mud.
The rain front will start mid-morning and at noon in the Valencian Country and the Balearic Islands, and it will be towards the afternoon when the main event will arrive in Catalonia. It will advance from the Ebro in a northerly direction, and by night it will sweep across the entire country. Towards the night, the precipitation will be leaving through the north of the territory. The episode will advance quickly and last little; large amounts of precipitation are not expected. But towards the Tierras del Ebro and the Valencian Country, some locally intense storms may occur that accumulate more than 20 l/m² in just half an hour. In this regard, Meteocat has activated the alert for intense rain in Montsià, Baix Ebre, Terra Alta, Ribera d'Ebre, Priorat, and Baix Camp.
All this with minimum temperatures that will clearly rise due to the irruption of a warmer air mass and the presence of more cloud intervals. Therefore, we will notice less coldness early in the morning. On the other hand, maximums will remain similar or decrease slightly, staying in check. The atmosphere will be between cool and mild, with many maximums from 17 °C to 22 °C, lower in mountainous areas. The snow line will move between 2,200 and 2,400 meters in the Pyrenees.
Sunday: more calm
Once the front passes, on Sunday we will wake up with much more calm and sun, as well as numerous fogs due to high humidity. A much more pleasant and enjoyable day. Even so, in the afternoon new clouds will grow, leaving a more variable sky in general, with sun more present on the coast. New irregular showers and some local storm are expected in the regions of Lérida, in Els Ports, in the western Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, and perhaps some showers on the southern pre-coastal area and in the Ebro. Not much.
Therefore, we will continue with this spring dynamic of somewhat unsettled afternoons, also facing the start of next week. Maximum temperatures will clearly rise on Sunday, with a warmer atmosphere at midday. Many values will range between 20 °C and 25 °C. The south wind will also blow in the afternoon on the northeast coast. Next week will also start with a warmer atmosphere, but the mercury will drop again in the following days.
