Weekend with two faces: a day of umbrella and another more profitable
The passage of a front will cause a spell of general rain
BarcelonaA weekend with two different faces in terms of weather begins. We'll start it with the passage of a front associated with an Atlantic storm located in the west of the peninsula, which will cause a rather grey day and a general spell of rain that will sweep across the whole country from south to north, especially from the afternoon onwards. Large quantities are not expected, although some locally intense storms are not ruled out, especially in the Terres de l'Ebre. An umbrella is essential on Saturday, but, on the other hand, on Sunday calm and sun will once again dominate, with only a few afternoon showers in the west. Temperatures will begin to rise from then on.
Saturday: rain front
The weekend will start very active and with eyes on the sky. Cloudiness will increase rapidly throughout the morning, and the first scattered showers may occur, especially in coastal areas and the southern half of the country. Temporarily, dust suspended from North Africa will increase, so the water will be accompanied by mud.
The rain front will start mid-morning and at midday in the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands, and it will be towards the afternoon when the main event arrives in Catalonia. It will advance from the Ebro towards the north, and by nightfall it will sweep across the entire country. Towards the night, the precipitation will move away through the north of the territory. The episode will advance quickly and will not last long; large amounts of precipitation are not expected. However, towards the Terres de l'Ebre and the Valencian Community, some locally intense storms may occur, accumulating more than 20 l/m² in just half an hour. In this regard, Meteocat has activated the alert for intense rain in Montsià and Baix Ebre.
All this, with minimum temperatures that will clearly rise due to the incursion of warmer air and the presence of more cloudy intervals. Therefore, we will notice less cold in the early hours. On the other hand, maximums will remain similar or drop slightly, keeping them in check. An environment between cool and mild, with many maximums from 17 °C to 22 °C, lower in mountainous areas. The snowline will move between 2,200 and 2,400 meters in the Pyrenees.
Sunday: more calm
Once the front passes, on Sunday we will wake up with much more calm and sun, as well as numerous fogs due to high humidity. A much calmer and more profitable day. Even so, in the afternoon new clouds will grow that will leave a more variable sky in general, with more sun present on the coast. New irregular showers and some local thunderstorms are expected in the Lleida regions, Ports, western Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, and perhaps some showers in the southern pre-coastal area and the Ebro. Not much.
Therefore, we will continue with this spring dynamic of somewhat unsettled afternoons, also regarding the start of next week. Maximum temperatures will clearly rise on Sunday, with warmer conditions at midday. Many values will range between 20 °C and 25 °C. The south wind will also blow in the afternoon on the northeast coast. Next week will also begin with warmer conditions, but the mercury will drop again in subsequent days.
