Weekend with sun, afternoon storms and mercury rising
The weather situation of the last few days will be maintained, with spring showers only in some regions
BarcelonaTemperatures have clearly dropped this Sant Jordi, with a markedly less warm atmosphere and most highs between 20 and 25 °C, far from the more than 30 °C reached in Ponent and the Ebro in recent days. A decrease that has been caused by the strengthening of cooler maritime wind from the east and north-east, which has been strongly felt on the coast, with gusts that have locally exceeded 50 km/h and waves between 1 and 2.5 meters high in some cases. The sun has dominated in most regions, but some afternoon showers have also repeated in the Pyrenees, in the Alt Maresme and the Montseny area, although less significant and extensive than in previous days. These spring showers will repeat on Friday and the weekend in mountainous areas, while in most of the country, sun and calm will continue to dominate. The atmosphere will become warmer again in the coming midday hours.
Friday: sun and afternoon thunderstorms
The sun will once again be the main protagonist this Friday in most regions. Some low clouds or morning fogs will reappear, both on the coast and inland, and in the afternoon, irregular showers and storms will return in parts of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, locally with some downpours, hail, or sleet. Furthermore, cloud cover will clearly increase in the Valencian Country, with precipitation gaining ground in the regions of Alicante and Valencia.
The sea breeze will die down and will no longer blow as much from the east and northeast as in the last few hours, but will be from the southeast. Minimum temperatures will drop a little and it will be a bit colder first thing in the morning. Maximums will rise in inland areas and in the Pyrenees, but the heat will be kept in check, with many values from 21 to 26 °C, locally a little higher in the west.
Warmer weekend
Thermometers will rise more this weekend, and midday temperatures will be warmer. Even on Sunday, 30 °C could be reached or locally touched again in Ponent and the southern interior. Values again above average, but it seems the mercury will not shoot up as much as in previous days.
All this with sunshine in general and new afternoon storms or showers in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, which locally can again leave some intense downpours of water. It is not ruled out that some downpour may reach the north of Central Catalonia and the northeast interior. Precipitation and cloudiness will be withdrawing from the Valencian Country on Saturday.
Midway through next week we could have a transient change in the weather, with an increase in instability. In any case, there are still days left and all this will have to be confirmed, as for now, no clear episode of significant rain is foreseen.
