Wednesday is a deadlock, with rain expected in several areas starting Thursday.
The arrival of a cold air pocket will make the weather unsettled in the coming days.
BarcelonaCalm and sunshine have continued to dominate in recent hours, with a noticeable increase in the midday temperature. Temperatures have exceeded 25°C in several spots, even reaching 29°C on the Ebro River. This calm will also continue on Wednesday, although the first changes will already begin to appear. Cloud cover will increase throughout the day, with greater variability but no rain. Minimum temperatures will rise, but maximum temperatures will remain unchanged. The first showers will fall in the Valencian Community and on the Ebro River in the late afternoon, and starting on Thursday, a pocket of cold air will increase instability and offshore winds, with rain especially in the Valencian Community. However, some showers will also reach Catalonia. A situation with a degree of uncertainty that we should monitor closely.
Wednesday: small changes
The weather will remain calm this Wednesday, but the first changes in the weather will soon be arriving. Throughout the day, we will notice an increase in cloud cover in some regions, especially along the coast, the pre-coast, and central Catalonia. Minor nuances and more changeable skies amid a calm environment. No rain is expected, although the first showers could fall in the south of the country later in the morning. In addition, some showers will appear inland in the Valencian Community starting in the afternoon, with local intensity. In the morning, there will also be fog and low clouds in the inland plains and valleys and along stretches of the coast.
Regarding temperatures, minimum temperatures will be higher, with more moderate coolness in the early hours. However, maximum temperatures will remain similar, slightly higher in the Ebro and lower in the Pyrenees. Many temperatures range from 23°C to 27°C, locally higher in the south and west.
Time change starting Thursday
The arrival of a pocket of cold air and the arrival of moisture-laden maritime winds will cause a significant change in the weather starting Thursday. In Catalonia, there will be more clouds and scattered showers, mainly affecting the regions of Barcelona, Central Catalonia, and the Pre-Pyrenees. It seems unlikely, with the odd bit of rain possible, especially around Camp de Tarragona and the pre-coastal region.
On Thursday, the heaviest rainfall is expected in the regions of Valencia and Alicante. And the maps indicate that during the second part of the week, the storm will fully affect the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands, possibly reaching the Ebro. Accumulated amounts throughout the episode could be significant, with some downpours. Meteocat has already activated the first alerts for locally heavy rain in Catalonia, and Aemet has issued yellow and orange alerts for the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands.
In Catalonia, however, calm weather will prevail across most of the territory, with maximum temperatures set to drop. On Friday, gusty winds could be strong along the entire coast, with significant maritime disturbances.
