The unsettled weather and cool middays will not continue
The sun will dominate and the temperatures will be rising a little more each day, with a warmer atmosphere
BarcelonaThe strong change in weather that started on Sunday has kept thermometers in check this Monday, when the atmosphere has been generally cool, and even cold early on. Only on the Costa Daurada and the Ebro coast have the maximums reached around 20 °C due to the effect of the re-heated mistral wind. All this after rain swept across the whole country between Sunday and Monday, with accumulations of between 5 and 20 l/m². And the wind has blown strongly at the extremes, especially in Alt Empordà, where the 151 km/h reached in Portbou or the 107 at the Darnius-Boadella reservoir stand out.
Until dinner time, there may be remnants of some showers between Barcelona and Girona, but from this Tuesday onwards, sun and calm will prevail everywhere for much of the week, with few nuances. Tonight temperatures will hit bottom, but maximums will rise a little more each day. Mild or warm midday temperatures are expected, but without any heatwave in sight like the one we experienced last week.
Tuesday: sun and calm
The weather will be very calm this Tuesday, with sun in all regions. There will only be small nuances, such as remnants of clouds on the north face of the Pyrenees, and low morning clouds on the central coast, as well as some fog early on. A pleasant day to take advantage of, with a maestral wind until early afternoon in the Ebro region and a tramuntana wind that will remain in Empordà and on the peaks of the Pyrenees, although it will be decreasing.
Regarding temperatures, we will wake up with more cold, as the minimums will hit bottom. However, no frosts are expected outside the Pyrenees area. The maximums will rise clearly, with milder or warm weather in the middle of the day. Many values between 20 and 25 °C are expected.
Absolute calm with few nuances in the coming days
Sun and calm will dominate for much of the week across the entire territory. The tramuntana wind will lessen in l’Empordà, and from Thursday onwards it will disappear. The anticyclone will embrace us with increasing intensity. Only from Friday onwards will it be easier for afternoon clouds to form in mountainous areas, bringing the classic short-lived spring showers.
Temperatures will climb, and during the second half of the week it is not ruled out that they will reach 30 °C again towards Ponent and the Ebre interior. However, this situation will be far from the completely out-of-place heatwave we had last week.
