On the verge of a weekend of changes
The long-awaited refreshment is approaching, with afternoon storms gaining ground.
BarcelonaTemperatures dropped yesterday in the interior of the country. We're at high altitude and the heat has remained intense, but for the first time in many days, it hasn't reached 40°C. However, near the sea, everything remains the same, with marked muggy conditions and sleepless nights that will continue into the weekend. And yesterday's strong storms gained ground, even reaching parts of the coast (you'll find all the details at the end of that report). It will be from Sunday onward and into the beginning of next week that the cooling off will be general and marked, with much more bearable and moderate heat, as well as more comfortable nights. All this with afternoon storms that will recur every day, and which, especially on Sunday, could be more extensive.
Friday: few changes
Temperatures will remain similar to yesterday's, although they may rise slightly temporarily. The night was fairly comfortable in most regions, especially where it rained yesterday, and markedly cool in the Pyrenees. However, tropical lows and "bad sleep" were repeated on the coast and in parts of the pre-coastal region, the Segrià and Ebro rivers, with some torrid lows on the coast. Meteocat maintains nighttime heat alerts until Saturday for the entire coast and pre-coastal region, in the Ribera d'Ebre and the Segrià rivers. Highs will again range between 32 and 38°C, with temperatures reaching or exceeding 39°C in the West and southern inland regions.
It will be sunny in the morning, but before noon, clouds will gather in the Pyrenees. From then on, and throughout the afternoon and early evening, new showers and storms will occur in parts of the Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees, and inland, possibly reaching the pre-coastal region. It's a random chance, but they can be heavy and accompanied by hail, hail, or strong gales. The north wind will blow in the morning in the Alt Empordà.
Weekend of changes
On Saturday, temperatures will drop slightly further in the Pyrenees and inland, but remain unchanged for the moment on the coast, where the muggy conditions and sleepless nights will be repeated. The drop in temperatures will be evident everywhere from Sunday onwards and into the beginning of next week. We'll breathe much easier, with very bearable and moderate heat and comfortable nights. On Monday and Tuesday, few places will reach 30°C, a radical change from recent days.
All with new showers and storms that will gain ground. Maps indicate that they will be able to reach the coast of Girona and Barcelona more easily, especially on Sunday.
On Thursday, for the first time, temperatures did not reach 40°C in the center of the country. The intense heat continued, but did not reach the extremes of days past. Above all, there was an increase in storms, affecting many parts of the Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees, and the interior, but also arriving with force on the pre-coastal areas of Barcelona and Tarragona, as well as Camp de Tarragona. Therefore, it rained for the first time in some coastal areas. Heavy showers fell, leaving downpours and, in some cases, hail, hail, or strong gales. Of note were 47 l/m² in La Pobla de Segur (Pallars Jussà), 30 in Terrassa (Vallès Occidental), 27 in Panadella (Anoia), 26 in Guardiola de Berguedà and Cantonigròs (Osona), and almost 12 in the city of Tarragona.
