The time

Start of the week with more mildness and wind at both ends of the country

This Sunday, 165 km/h have been exceeded

BarcelonaWe leave behind a weekend with two very different faces: a very calm Saturday and a Sunday marked by intense wind, snow in the Pyrenees, and a cooler atmosphere. Wind gusts have exceeded 100 km/h in many regions, causing quite a few incidents (you will find more data on the strong winds at the end of this piece). Next week will be much more stable and temperatures will progressively rise, although there will still be some snowfall in the Pyrenees, with a higher snowline, and wind in the usual places in the country. It seems that the key days of Holy Week, however, will be dominated by calm and good weather.

Monday: more calm

The week will begin with much more pleasant and stable weather, although the wind will blow strongly in Empordà, the Ebro, and the high areas of the Pyrenees. In the afternoon, in fact, the wind will also blow with moderate gusts in the regions of Ponent. In the Pyrenees there will be precipitation again, in this case with a snowline that will rise from the initial 700-900 meters to 1,500-1,700 meters. This rise in the snowline will be associated with a generalized rise in temperatures, which will leave a milder atmosphere at midday on a day marked by intervals of high and medium clouds. Even so, Monday morning will be a little colder than Sunday morning, and morning frosts will reach more regions outside the Pyrenees.

Tuesday: monotony and softness

The weather will remain stable and calm for Tuesday, when Monday's thermal rise will also be noticeable in the morning values, which will rise notably everywhere. Almost total dominance of the sun, with the permission of the clouds in the Pyrenean regions, which will again leave snow precipitation above 1,500 meters. In the rest, the midday will be very mild, with maximums that in many cases will be between 20 and 25 °C.

A quite stable Holy Week

Maps indicate that a very quiet week awaits us, and with a clear contrast compared to this Sunday; the weather will be pleasant during the key days of Holy Week. Nevertheless, between Monday and Thursday there will still be some scattered precipitation in the Pyrenean regions, especially on the northern slopes, with snow at medium and high altitudes, and some showers in other parts of the northern half and northeast are not ruled out. The temperature will be mild at midday, and towards the middle and end of the week, maximums will be repeated above 20 or 22 °C.
