The time

Cold winter morning, milder midday and still has the wind today

Alerts for strong gusts of wind are maintained in some regions

BarcelonaWe leave behind a weekend with two very different faces: a Saturday quite calm and a Sunday marked by intense wind, snow in the Pyrenees and a cooler or colder atmosphere. Wind gusts have exceeded 100 km/h in several regions in recent hours, which has caused quite a few incidents, which has caused quite a few incidents (you will find the most outstanding data of the gale at the end of this article). This week will be more stable and the temperature will gradually rise, although this morning we woke up with a cold winter atmosphere and frost in many places. There will still be some snowfall in the Pyrenees until the middle of the week, with a higher snow line, and wind in the usual places in the country. It seems that the key days of Holy Week, however, will be dominated by calm and good weather.

Monday: more calm

The week begins with a clearly colder and more wintry atmosphere. There are morning values of up to -10 ºC in high mountains, and frosts have spread to many parts of the interior and the pre-coastal areas. We will have to see if these late frosts have any negative effects on the fields. However, today the maximum temperatures will clearly rise, and the midday atmosphere will be milder than yesterday. In the coming days, the minimum temperatures will also rise and it will be difficult for it to freeze hard in the Pyrenees.

Monday's weather will be much more pleasant and stable, although the wind will still blow strongly in Empordà, the Ebro, and at high altitudes in the Pyrenees. In the afternoon, in fact, the wind will also blow with moderate gusts in the Ponent regions. In the Pyrenees, there will be precipitation again, in this case with a snowline that will rise from the initial 700-900 meters to 1,500-1,700 meters.

In fact, the Meteorological Service of Catalonia maintains the Ebro Lands, the Tarragona coast, Upper and Lower Empordà, the Pyrenean and Pre-Pyrenean regions, and Segrià on a wind warning. La Cerdanya, Ripollès, and Alto Ampurdán are on orange level (3/6), while the rest remain on yellow level.

Tuesday: monotony and softness

The weather will remain stable and calm for Tuesday in most regions, when Monday's thermal rise will also be noticeable in morning values, which will rise significantly everywhere. Almost total dominance of sunshine, with the permission of clouds in the Pyrenean regions, which will once again bring snowfall above 1,500 meters. Elsewhere, midday will be very mild, with maximums in many cases between 20 and 25 °C. The north wind will still remain in the extremities for at least two or three more days.

A fairly stable Easter week

The maps indicate that a very calm week awaits us, and with a clear contrast compared to this Sunday; the weather will be pleasant during the key days of Easter Week. Nevertheless, between Monday and Thursday there will still be some scattered precipitation in the Pyrenean regions - especially on the northern slope - with snow at medium and high altitudes, and some showers are not ruled out in other parts of the northern and northeastern half. The temperature will be mild at midday, and towards the middle and end of the week, maximums will be repeated above 20 or 22 °C.

Sales balance

The north component wind intensified rapidly during the early hours of Sunday, with gusts that have exceeded 100 km/h in several regions in recent hours. Notable are the 168.5 km/h in Portbou, in Alt Empordà, and at the sanctuary of Queralt, in Berguedà. Other significant records include 141.5 km/h at the Darnius reservoir (Alt Empordà) or 130 km/h at Tosa de Alp 2,478 m (Cerdanya). In the far south, 109.8 km/h stands out in El Perelló (Baix Ebre) and Mas de Barberans (Montsià).
