Another round of rain today due to Storm Leonardo
The weather will remain very changeable and unsettled all week due to the passage of new fronts.
The storm Leonardo It will continue to affect us indirectly in the coming hours, after bringing a cloudier morning with some light showers or drizzle yesterday, but a sunnier afternoon. Therefore, changeable weather will persist today, with a new, more active front driven by the same low-pressure system bringing another round of light rain to all regions and more snow to the southern slopes of the Pyrenees, although at a much higher altitude. All this will be accompanied by stronger winds, rough seas, and rising temperatures. Leonardo It is leaving a lot of water in the south of the Peninsula, where it is raining on already wet ground, with many floods and incidents.
Thursday: New rain front
The passage of a more active warm front associated with the storm Leonardo This will bring a general surge of light showers from west to east this Thursday. The precipitation will begin in the Ponent region and along the Ebro River in the early morning, gradually spreading eastward throughout the day. It will be another overcast day, with some sunshine in the northeast in the morning – where little to no rain is expected – and in the south in the afternoon. At night, the precipitation will be concentrated in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida.
The snow level will rise sharply due to the arrival of a warmer air mass. It will be around 1,800 or 2,000 meters in the morning, and may drop to 1,600 meters in the afternoon. Therefore, more snowfall is expected in the higher elevations of the Pyrenees, especially on the southern slopes of the western range, where it will be heavier and more continuous, with accumulations of more than 20 or 25 cm of new snow possible.
Some light and scattered showers are also expected in the Balearic Islands and the Valencian Community, and the rain could become very heavy again in Andalusia, where it's already raining on saturated ground. All of this will be accompanied by warmer temperatures, with many areas reaching 11 to 16 °C. Winds from the west and southwest will strengthen, with strong gusts at higher elevations, along the Costa Brava, in the Valencian Community, and in the Balearic Islands, creating rough seas. Meteocat has issued warnings for high waves.
No respite from the fronts
The rest of the week will be marked by the passage of new weather fronts, keeping the weather changeable and unsettled. On Friday, the sky will be variable, with a chance of some light showers in the Empordà region, the interior of the Ebro valley, and the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida. Over the weekend, there will be some scattered and minor showers here and there, with a rollercoaster of temperatures. This weather, more British than Mediterranean, will continue for a few more days.
