BarcelonaDecember began very calmly yesterday, with generally sunny skies and intense cold early in the morning. This wintry weather will continue over the next few days, with temperatures fluctuating, but always below the average for this time of year. This morning it's time to bundle up again, although in most cases the minimum temperatures rose due to cloud cover. In fact, a weakened Atlantic front is crossing us today, bringing more cloud cover than rain, with only a few isolated showers expected, mainly in the Lleida and Pyrenees regions. This changeable weather will continue in the coming days, with temperatures remaining relatively stable.

Forecast map for this Tuesday morning.

Tuesday: New weather change

The passage of a new Atlantic front will bring changes this Tuesday. Cloud cover will be more prevalent everywhere, with partly to mostly cloudy skies, as well as morning fog inland. Light rain will arrive in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida during the afternoon, along with some scattered, light showers or drizzles in the rest of the mountain range and in the western part of the region. Overall, little rain is expected, and most areas will remain dry.

Forecast map for this Tuesday afternoon.

The snow level will hover around 1,200 meters, locally lower, but accumulations will be modest, at most around 5 cm in the mid and high elevations of the Lleida Pyrenees. All this with a mistral wind that will strengthen in the south during the afternoon, and in the late hours, the tramontana wind will also arrive in the Empordà region. Minimum temperatures have risen due to cloud cover, but the winter chill remains strong early this morning. Frost has occurred again outside the Pyrenees, although it is clearly less widespread than in previous days. Maximum temperatures will remain similar and well-controlled, and may even drop further in the Pyrenees. Many temperatures will range between 11°C and 16°C at midday, lower in mountainous areas.

Winter weather and changeable conditions expected in the coming days

Wednesday will bring sunshine to most regions, with sun and a mistral and tramontana wind in the far reaches. Temperatures will drop both day and night, creating a wintry feel with values below the average for this time of year. On Thursday, a weakened Atlantic front will arrive, bringing more snow to the Pyrenees and some scattered showers to the rest of the country, though not everywhere. Cloud cover will be more prevalent than rain.

Based on current weather maps, it appears the Immaculate Conception long weekend will be quite calm and enjoyable across the country. Temperatures will rise, and the weather will be more pleasant at midday, with a marked contrast between the morning chill and the midday warmth.
