BarcelonaThe Indian summer is coming to an end due to the approach of a weak front that will bring cooler air and replace the warm air mass that has kept temperatures 4 to 6 degrees above average for this time of year. In fact, highs have reached almost 26°C in many regions, for example, in the Fabra Observatory the t has been registeredhighest maximum temperature, with 23.3 ºCFor All Saints' Dayin more than a century Data (at the end of this information we add a brief list with other noteworthy records).

Tonight and into tomorrow, an Atlantic front will cross us, bringing showers back to some inland areas, especially in the Pyrenees, although we expect only light rain or amounts not exceeding 3 or 4 mm. North and northwest winds at both ends of the region will be accompanied by a drop in temperatures, more noticeable towards Sunday night and, especially, on Monday.

Weather forecast for Sunday morning.

Change in weather: a front and some showers

The passage of a weak front will bring changes to the weather. Precipitation will arrive on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees during the early morning hours, continuing lightly and intermittently throughout the rest of the day. Light rain will fall until the early morning, even in the pre-coastal areas and along the coast. The snow level will hover around 2,500 meters, but it won't be a heavy snowfall. The peaks will end up dusted with snow, especially in the Aran Valley and northern Pallars Sobirà.

Weather forecast for Sunday afternoon.

During the afternoon, scattered showers are expected in parts of the Girona and Barcelona regions, most likely between the southern Costa Brava and the interior of La Selva, as well as in the northern Maresme. Elsewhere, sunshine will prevail, but strong mistral and tramontana winds will pick up in the southern half of the region, in the Ponent and Empordà areas, where the sea will be rougher, with heavy swells north of Cap de Creus. At night, northerly gusts could exceed 80 km/h in the Empordà, and the mistral will also blow strongly in Els Ports and along the Ebro.

The arrival of colder air will lower temperatures, especially in the north of the region. However, along the southern coast, the wind will blow warm, bringing a brief warm spell, with highs potentially reaching 24°C again on the Costa Daurada, as well as along the central coast and pre-coastal areas. Maximum temperatures will drop by more than 5°C on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees and in many areas of the northeast quadrant.

Temperatures falling, fog and a more autumnal feel

Nights will be colder, as the models indicate, especially on Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures potentially reaching 0°C in the Pyrenean valleys, where frost is expected in the high mountains. Inland, temperatures will range between 2°C and 5°C, and along the coast, they will drop to around 10°C. At least we'll have a more autumnal feel than we do now.

The sky will remain mostly clear, except for the central coast and the southern Costa Brava. The downdraft generated by the Tramontana wind will bring dense clouds from the Mediterranean, and some showers are possible off the coast, potentially reaching the shoreline. The rest of the region will remain clear or with only a few thin clouds. The cold nighttime conditions inland will generate radiation fog, which will appear in the plains of Ponent and Central Catalonia, as well as in some pre-Pyrenean valleys.
