Last lashes of summer: the arrival of the autumn atmosphere has already been set.
The heat will still be summery until the weekend, but after that, more significant changes will come.
BarcelonaThe last few hours have been marked above all by a marked rise in maximum temperatures. Temperatures reached 33 to 35°C in the West, on the Ebro River, and in Priorat, with Torroja del Priorat recording 34.9°C as the highest of the day. The muggy conditions have also become more intense near the sea. A summery atmosphere with values clearly above average will continue into Thursday, with absolute calm and relatively low temperatures in most regions. Between Friday and Saturday, cloudy periods will increase along the coast, with some drizzle not being ruled out. However, it will be from Sunday onwards that a pocket of cold air will reactivate the instability. A change in the weather will bring a significant cooling effect next week. It will be then that the autumn breezes will arrive, coinciding with the official entry of the new season next Monday.
Thursday: calm and warm
The weather will remain very calm this Thursday. We will wake up again with some low clouds in the south of the country, as well as in other coastal areas and in some places in Central Catalonia. Minor nuances amid a sunny environment that will dominate throughout the day in most regions. Only traces of harmless low clouds will remain in the afternoon on the southern coast, especially in Camp de Tarragona. A pleasant day to take advantage of.
As for temperatures, they will remain similar to Wednesday's, with mild to cool temperatures early in the day. Tropical lows will be repeated in parts of the coast and the south. Highs may rise a few degrees in the West and the Lleida Pyrenees. Summery atmosphere, with excessive heat for the season and many highs of 27 to 32°C. In addition, in the West and inland areas of the south, temperatures will reach 32 to 35°C. The coast will be muggy.
First change of autumn weather
On Friday and Saturday, there will be increasing cloud cover along the coast, with some drizzle not being ruled out, especially between Camp de Tarragona and the Ebro. Elsewhere in the country, there will be more sun than clouds, with calm and time to spare. Temperatures will remain similar to Thursday's or drop by a few degrees.
But all eyes are on Sunday, when a pocket of cold air will arrive and reactivate instability. With a degree of uncertainty still lingering, showers and storms could affect any point between Sunday and Monday, with local intensity. And the weather isn't expected to clear up in the following days.
The most notable thing will be that this change in weather will usher in a significant freshening of the air that will bring us a hint of autumn, coinciding with the official arrival of the new season on Monday.
