Last day of heat at bay today: a new summer tasting is coming
There will be some showers, but from Friday onwards the sun and calm will generally prevail.

BarcelonaTemperatures dropped yesterday across most of the country, with very moderate heat. There was only a warm peak on the Barcelona and Tarragona coasts due to the overheated westerly wind, but temperatures will also drop in these areas today. A very cool and normal atmosphere for the time of year will continue this Thursday, but starting Friday, temperatures will soar again, reaching 35°C in the west over the weekend.
All this with the remains of some showers and clouds, which since yesterday have already left between 5 and 15 l/m² in some parts of the Pyrenees, Pre-Pyrenees, and inland Alt Empordà, often with thunderstorms. The rest of the week will be calm and sunny, and the smoke from the Canadian wildfires will continue to be present in the sky above our home.
Thursday: Heat very much under control
We wake up to a generally cool atmosphere, with very mild temperatures along the coast. Daytime temperatures will drop today across much of the coast and pre-coast of Catalonia and the Valencian Community, where they will rarely exceed 25°C. The drop will be marked in areas affected by Wednesday's warming westerly winds. However, temperatures will already rise towards the Lleida region, especially in the western Pyrenees. In any case, the weather will be very subdued and normal for the time of year, with most highs between 25 and 30°C, and even lower along the coast.
The sky will continue to change throughout Thursday, with traces of instability. During the early morning hours, scattered showers or drops will fall across the Ebro, the Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees, and other areas in the northern half of the country. Initially, there will be few, but local thunderstorms are possible.
In the afternoon, clouds will gather, bringing some very patchy showers to areas of the Pyrenees, Pre-Pyrenees, and nearby areas, such as northern Central Catalonia. There will also be some localized showers in the Els Ports area and the pre-coastal region, while the sky will generally be changeable, with more sun towards the west and the coast.
Alone and more in the coming days
Between Friday and Saturday, the sun will shine without precipitation, and temperatures will clearly rise. Summery days await us again, although initially without the high temperatures of recent days. The temperature will again reach 35°C in some parts of the West, and dust will increase. On Sunday, the thermometer is expected to drop again, with some local showers in mountainous areas and in the west. In any case, next week looks set to be warm, with temperatures clearly above normal for the time of year.

Balance of the meteorological spring
Catalonia has experienced one of its wettest springs in recent decades this year. This is the conclusion of the Meteocat report on the meteorological spring, which covers the months of March, April, and May. Notable cases include Berga, where it hasn't rained this much at this time of year since 1971.
The areas where the most rain has fallen are the Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees, the Montseny area, the central and northern pre-coastal areas, Els Ports, and the northernmost part of Alt Empordà. In these areas, in many cases, between 400 and 600 l/m² have been recorded during the spring, especially in March, which was one of the wettest on record. Exceptions, however, are found in the Ebro Delta and in parts of the central coast and the rest of Alt Empordà, where it has rained less than usual.
Temperatures have been average in most regions, but in some areas they have been clearly higher. This is the case along the coast, where there have even been some heat records. For example, Malgrat de Mar (Maresme) and Viladecans (Baix Llobregat) have recorded their warmest spring in more than twenty years of records. In the case of Viladecans, the records from 2020 and 2011 have been matched.
