Intense thunderstorms and thermometer drop (finally!)

BarcelonaThe announced change in weather is already here and it has arrived radically. The approach of a cold air trough at altitude is causing atmospheric instability to gain ground and has already contributed to a slight drop in the thermometer. In fact, during the weekend the thermometer will drop more noticeably and will be a little below what is expected for these dates. This will translate into better rest during the nights and the disappearance of torrid and tropical nights on the coast, at least, for a few days.
The thunderstorms have already discharged with intensity, with some downpours and hailstorms (we will add more data at the end of this information).
During this night and early Friday morning there will be a new batch of showers in the Pyrenees of Lleida, in Ponent and in Central Catalonia. On the coast, they have formed offshore and during the early morning they will end up discharging in the central and southern coastal regions.
Friday of uncertain weather and new storms
Early in the morning, clear spells will appear in Ponent and along the Ebre. During the morning and midday, storms will fall in the northeast of the territory, and during the afternoon and evening, they will do so again in Camp de Tarragona and along the central coast. These showers will be accompanied by strong gusts of wind, hail, or sleet. Accumulations in a few hours, for example, on the southern coast, in Prelitoral or in Ponent, could exceed 60 l/m2. Sudden local floods in ravines and streams should be monitored, as well as in the Pyrenees, in the high mountains, where thunderstorms will also be violent. The maritime situation will be altered, with rough seas or strong rough seas, for example, north of Cape Begur.

Weekend with the last showers and a cooler atmosphere
The presence of a colder air mass will contribute to a thermal drop. In fact, during the weekend the thermometer will drop more noticeably and will be a little below what would be expected for this time of year. This will translate into better rest during the nights and the disappearance of torrid and tropical nights on the coast, at least for a few days. In the Pyrenees, for example, this cooling will be most noticeable and during the nights you will need to grab a jacket and a blanket (it seems unbelievable, but it will be like that!). In Ponent and Ebre the temperature will not exceed 33°C and in the rest of the territory the thermometer will move between 26°C and 30°C. Saturday dawn will be very cool in the Pyrenees and in some valleys it will drop to 10°C. On the coast we will enjoy a pleasant 22°C.
