Diada with some local showers and increasing downpours along the bridge
Instability will increase as the days progress, with normal temperatures for the dates.
BarcelonaCalm weather prevailed in most regions this Wednesday, with plenty of sunshine and only a few light afternoon showers in the Pyrenees, northern Girona, and the south. Temperatures have also risen, especially along the central and southern coast and pre-coast, and along the Ebro River, where the warming winds from the west and east have left some highs of 30 to 32°C. The Catalan National Day holiday is upon us, and it looks like it's going to be marked by a bit of a mixed bag of weather, with increasing instability.
On Thursday, Catalonia's National Day and a national holiday, some local showers may occur between southern Girona and the central coast, with more sunshine elsewhere. And from Friday onward, showers and thunderstorms will again gain ground in many regions. Temperatures will remain fairly normal for the time.
Fiesta: risk of some local showers
The weather will remain stable and fairly sunny in most regions for the Diada, but there will be exceptions. The northerly and mistral winds that will blow during the first half of the day at both ends of the country will generate a humid wind from the sea towards the land between the coast and the central pre-coast and the southern Costa Brava, which will increase cloud cover and the risk of precipitation. Therefore, some scattered showers and fairly localized showers may fall throughout the day in these areas, including the Barcelona area.
It looks like they will be few and far between. In addition, some irregular and unremarkable showers will fall in the afternoon in parts of the Pyrenees, especially around Ripollès and inland in the northeast. The Balearic Islands will also see a few showers throughout the day, mainly between the north and east of Mallorca and the island of Menorca.
All this, with minimum temperatures remaining similar, with a cool atmosphere early in the day. Once again, it will be colder in the Pyrenees, with minimums dropping below 10°C in many cases. Maximum temperatures will rise slightly overall, except in the areas with more cloudy periods along the coast and pre-coastline of Barcelona and Girona, where they will drop. Many values range from 24 to 29°C, higher in the southern inland areas. In short, bearable and fairly normal heat for this time of year.
More unsettled weather for the rest of the long weekend.
The passage of a front will reactivate instability on Friday. A day of more cloudy weather and a risk of irregular showers is expected, especially in the center and north of the country, but also in the Els Ports area and, in more scattered and weaker forms, in the Tarragona area. Rain will also affect the coast. The situation is still uncertain, but we will have to continue to determine the specifics, but it is expected to last until Saturday.
In fact, intense storms could hit the northern half of the country on the first day of the weekend. This unsettled weather will coincide with the peak of the Diada long weekend, when many people are out and about. Therefore, be cautious with the forecast for rain, especially in mountainous areas.
Scattered showers will also arrive in the Balearic Islands, while much of Valencia will remain calm and sunny. Starting Saturday, the north wind will also strengthen in the Empordà region, while Sunday looks set to be a calmer day. All this, with some ups and downs in temperatures that, overall, will remain within the normal range, with cool nights and a warm atmosphere far from extremes in the middle of the day.
