The weather

Today brings a change in the weather: showers are returning to many regions.

The passage of an Atlantic front will reactivate instability and initiate a rise in temperatures.

We're leaving behind the calm and chilly mornings, more typical of late autumn, of the last two days, as an Atlantic front crosses us today, bringing a change in the weather. A fairly cloudy day is expected, with scattered showers falling almost everywhere. Keep an eye on the sky, although the rain should be light and not widespread or consistent throughout the day. Minimum temperatures have risen significantly, with a more moderate chill in the early hours. Over the next few days, we'll continue to be influenced by weakening Atlantic fronts, with temperatures gradually rising and changeable weather.

Wednesday: Showers return

The passage of an Atlantic front will bring more unsettled weather this Wednesday. Cloud cover will be more widespread, and showers will reappear in practically every area. Rain will be scattered, especially between the morning and early afternoon, with precipitation moving very quickly from south to north. Some showers will return in the afternoon, particularly in the north and west of the country. There will also be some light and scattered showers in parts of Valencia and Castellón.

In general, the rainfall will be light, with relatively small amounts. Only the southern slopes of the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida will see heavier downpours, where locally exceeding 10 or 20 liters per square meter is possible. Furthermore, it won't rain all day long or everywhere. In areas south of the Ebro River and in the northeast, the rain may be more intermittent, although showers are still possible.

The southerly wind will strengthen and be particularly noticeable at higher elevations, especially in the Pyrenees. Minimum temperatures have risen significantly, with milder temperatures early in the morning and virtually no frost anywhere. Only a few isolated frosts have occurred in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, such as in Das (Cerdanya), with a low of -2.3°C. Maximum temperatures will remain similar or rise slightly, with a cool to mild atmosphere at midday. They will only drop temporarily in the Pyrenees, with the snow level once again rising above 2,500 meters.

Towards the Chestnut Festival with less cold

Temperatures will continue to rise in the coming days, with less cold nights and mornings and milder middays, resulting in highs of 20 to 25°C. We'll be leaving behind the chill of late autumn, but the skies will remain variable, with a slight risk of some isolated, light showers on Thursday. Based on current weather forecasts, the Castañada festival looks fairly calm with moderately cool temperatures.
