Calm and warm Saturday, awaiting a new change in the weather
A new front is approaching on Sunday with showers in the afternoon.
BarcelonaThe cold air above us and the tail of an occluded front have generated storm clouds in the northeast of the country over the last few hours, especially during the afternoon. Inland and in the Pyrenees, some showers have been dumped, some forming thunderstorms (29 l/m).2 in the Bas Valley). You'll find updated data at the end of this report.
It's also worth noting that the passage of the cold front yesterday, Friday, has seen temperatures drop, especially lows, which hover around 7°C in the Pyrenean valleys. The muggy nights on the coast are finally behind us, although temperatures are expected to rise again over the weekend. However, we shouldn't expect any major heat.
Calm Saturday with rising temperatures
A quiet weekend, especially on Saturday, with a rise in temperature but no significant heat expected. Nights will be cool again, especially in the Pyrenees, where temperatures will drop to a low of 9 or 10°C (in the valleys). In the high mountains, the temperature will recover slightly, but temperatures will still be more typical of early autumn (at 2,200 m, they will drop to 5°C). On the coast, the thermometer will hover around 20°C, but without any muggy conditions (it will be possible to rest during the night). Maximum temperatures will remain in check, a few degrees below what would be expected for this time of year. In the Empordà and the Ebro, they will not exceed 32°C, and on the coast, temperatures could reach 29°C.
In the afternoon, some clouds will gather in the Pyrenees and inland areas of the northeast, where short-lived showers are not out of the question. On the coast, winds will be light, strengthening from midday onwards.
Sunday: new weather change
A very deep low pressure system located in the Atlantic will bring a new frontal system. The first part of the day will be calm with clear skies along the coast. By mid-morning, thin clouds will increase, and the West will already be quite overcast. In fact, the first showers will fall from midday in the Lleida regions and the surrounding fringe, with some thunderstorms in the Pre-Pyrenees and the westernmost Pyrenees.
During the night, showers will reach central Catalonia and the pre-coastal region, and during the early hours of Monday, rain will eventually fall in some areas, with some thunderstorms also reaching the coast.
Monday will start off gray and unstable in the eastern half, where new showers and more thunderstorms will occur, especially during the afternoon in the northeast. Temperatures will drop again between Monday and Tuesday, before recovering again from midweek.
