Brief change in weather today: more clouds and local showers in some areas

The rest of the week will be very quiet again, and especially quite hot for the dates.

BarcelonaWe started the week yesterday with a generally calm and warmer climate, with highs once again reaching 35°C locally in the West. However, today we will experience a slight change in the weather, as the passage of the tail end of a worn-out front will temporarily reactivate instability. More cloudy periods are expected throughout, but light rain is not expected everywhere. During the morning, some very irregular showers are expected, mainly in parts of the Pre-Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees, and the southern coast and pre-coast. Local thunderstorms are not ruled out. Maximum temperatures will be shorter due to increased cloud cover, but from Wednesday onwards, the calm and warmth will increase. The last days of the official summer will be very warm, with temperatures clearly above average.

Tuesday: scattered showers

Tomorrow will be generally cloudy, with some localized showers, but far from universal. The most likely are expected in the Pre-Pyrenees—especially the western Pyrenees—in some parts of the southern face of the Pyrenees, and in coastal and southern pre-coastal areas. Generally, these will be very irregular, although with some local thunderstorms. Weak showers or light rain showers cannot be ruled out in other areas, but these are minor and anecdotal.

The abundant cloudiness of the early hours of the day will gradually break up but will not disappear, leaving a variable afternoon with only the remains of some weak, isolated showers in the eastern Pyrenees or inland northeast Spain. Very little is likely to fall. In the afternoon, it will be sunnier towards the west, and the north wind will blow for the first half of the day in the Empordà region. The weather will be mild early in the morning after another night with tropical lows on the central and southern coast. Highs will drop due to increased cloud cover, with muggy conditions near the sea.

Calm and summer heat in the coming days

From Wednesday onwards, calm and sunny weather will prevail, with no major precipitation or changes expected for the rest of the week. The main event will be the temperature, which will rise sharply and peak in the coming days. Very warm weather for the time being, with highs around or above 30°C in many inland areas on the warmest days, and around 35°C in the West and inland south.

Therefore, the last official week of summer will leave us with an atmosphere more reminiscent of late August than late September, although the nights will remain cool and mild. It's worth remembering that next Monday, September 22nd, autumn officially arrives. It appears it will do so with a drop in temperatures and increased instability.
