BarcelonaThe extreme heat has given a little respite this weekend, with very high values, but without the records of a few days ago. Throughout the week, temperatures will rise and the peak of the new episode of extreme heat will arrive, which will be even more intense than the previous ones. However, the presence of thin clouds or suspended dust can dampen the radiation and prevent the thermometer from soaring so much in the end. We are fully at the gates of what will be the third heatwave of the summer, when we will not have even recovered from the second one. Its peak will arrive between Wednesday and Friday. The stuffiness will make it impossible to rest on the coast, with torrid nights. In Ponent or Ebre, thermometers could reach or exceed 42°C maximum in the middle of the week.

Weather forecast for Monday 13 in the morning.

Monday: stuffiness and rising temperatures

The arrival of a new warm air mass from North Africa will once again cause a rise in temperature, and it will be even worse than last week's, with values up to 11°C above average in the coming days. This will cause the maximum temperature to climb this Monday to 40°C in Ponent or the Ebre inland. Outside the hottest areas, most maximums will range between 32°C and 36°C, with marked mugginess on the coastal facade. All this after a night that has been tropical in many places, and particularly heavy near the sea, where some local torrid minimums have been repeated.

Weather forecast for Monday 13th in the afternoon.

Early in the day, low, compact clouds will appear, especially on the Costa Daurada or the Ebro, which could even leave a few drops of mud. In the rest of the country, thin clouds will appear and the sky will be very hazy due to the presence of dust. From midday, the sea breeze will strengthen and the sea will be a little rougher, with swell along much of the coast.

Peak of the summer heatwave

The low pressures of the Atlantic will continue to pump warm air from the African continent. The warm mass will have its peak between Tuesday and Thursday and will fully affect our latitudes and the Balearic Islands (in Palma, Thursday, a maximum of 38°C is expected). Sultriness and sticky heat will be the protagonists, with a hazy sky with the presence of low clouds on the coast. On Wednesday and Thursday, maximum temperatures of 42°C are calculated, especially in Ponent, the Ebro, and Central Catalonia, with the risk that, locally, a higher value may be reached due to the local effect of the re-heated wind, for example, from the south or southwest.

In any case, many highs of 36°C to 41°C are expected and tropical nights or, locally, some heatwave (above 30°C) due to the heat island effect in Barcelona or due to some re-heated wind, more local. At the end of the week, thermometers will recede.
