BarcelonaThe extreme heat has given a little respite this weekend, with very high values, but without the records of a few days ago. From Monday, temperatures will rise again and a new heatwave will begin, even more intense than the previous ones and with the possibility of breaking some of the records achieved a few days ago. However, the presence of thin clouds or suspended dust may dampen the radiation and prevent the thermometer from soaring so much in the end. We are on the verge of what will be the third heatwave of the summer, when we will not yet have recovered from the second. The sultriness will make it impossible to rest on the coast, with torrid nights. In Ponent or Ebro, thermometers could reach 42°C maximum in the middle of the week.

Weather forecast for Monday 13th in the morning.

Monday: overcast sky, stuffiness and rising temperatures

The arrival of a new warm air mass from North Africa will once again cause a new rise in temperature. The mass – worse than last week's – will bring values up to 11°C above average. This will already cause the maximum temperature to climb this Monday to 40°C in Ponent or the Ebre interior. At the beginning of the day, low, compact clouds will appear, especially on the Costa Daurada or the Ebre, which could even leave some mud. In the rest of the country, thin clouds will appear and a sky very hazy due to the presence of dust. Maximum temperatures, in general, will range between 32°C and 34°C, with mugginess on the coastal facade.

Meteocat has issued warnings for nighttime heat, for both Monday and Tuesday:

Weather forecast for Monday the 13th in the afternoon.

From midday the sea breeze will strengthen and the sea will be a little more disturbed, with choppiness along much of the coast.

Third heatwave of the summer

The low pressures in the Atlantic will continue to pump warm air from the African continent. The warm mass will have its peak between Tuesday and Thursday and will fully affect our latitudes and the Balearic Islands (in Palma, on Thursday, a maximum of 38 °C is expected). Sultriness and sticky heat will be the protagonists, with a hazy sky with the presence of low clouds on the coast. On Wednesday and Thursday, maximums of 42 °C are calculated, especially in Ponent, the Ebro, and Central Catalonia, with the risk that, locally, some higher value may be reached due to the local effect of the re-heated wind, for example, from the south or southwest.

In any case, many highs of 36°C to 41°C are expected and tropical nights or, locally, some heatwave (above 30°C) due to the heat island effect in Barcelona or due to some warmed wind, more local.
