BarcelonaIn recent hours, scattered showers have reappeared, accompanied by mud, with some thunderstorms. All of this has been relatively light, and it hasn't rained anywhere. During the early hours of this morning, it will rain in the Pyrenees and the pre-Pyrenees around Lleida, with scattered showers also possible in other parts of the north. In the afternoon, there will be repeated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, in the Pyrenees and Els Ports. All of this is the result of a pocket of cold air that will pave the way for a further drop in temperatures, which will continue on Thursday. Today, temperatures are unlikely to exceed 30°C across the country. The heat will remain at bay, but the summery atmosphere will soar again on Friday and the weekend.

Wednesday: Heat at bay and some showers

During the early hours of the day, the sky will remain changeable, with showers and thunderstorms expected in the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida, while the rest of the north of the country may experience a few showers that will eventually disappear as the hours pass. The day will be changeable to partly cloudy in several regions, and from midday and into the afternoon, clouds will again gather, leaving irregular showers and thunderstorms in areas of the northeast, the Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees, and Els Ports. Some storms may be strong and locally accompanied by hail. Meteocat has issued an alert in some regions for heavy rain that could leave more than 20 l/m² in just half an hour.

Temperatures will generally drop, especially inland and in the Pyrenees, but in the south and the Ponent region, moderate winds will blow from the mistral to the westerly, which will warm the Tarragona coast and pre-coast, where there will be a temporary warm peak. Many highs will hover between 25 and 30°C.

Heat at bay as we await the return of summer

Temperatures will drop further on Thursday, especially along the coast and pre-coast, with a relatively mild and fairly normal heat for the season. However, they will rise slightly in the West, awaiting the return of temperatures on Friday and over the weekend, with temperatures that are too high for the season. All this with increasingly sunny weather and no rain in sight.
