BarcelonaThis morning we woke up to cooler temperatures than yesterday, but the thermometers will rise further between today and tomorrow, Saturday, with very calm and pleasant weather coinciding with the change of month. In fact, All Saints' Day will see a warm peak with many highs around 25°C. These above-average temperatures will ensure that the Castañada (Chestnut Festival) is not cold once again this year. Temperatures already took a leap yesterday, with the return of calm and very pleasant weather at midday. The highest temperature in the entire country was recorded at the Ribarroja reservoir (Ribera d'Ebre), at 25°C. But this brief spell of warm weather will be short-lived, as the passage of a cold front on Sunday will bring renewed instability to some areas and northerly winds to the far reaches, with a noticeable drop in temperature.

Forecast map for this Friday morning.

Friday: Higher temperatures

The reduced cloud cover has led to a slight drop in minimum temperatures compared to Thursday, with a cooler morning. You'll need a bit more warmth this morning, but the extra layers will be uncomfortable by midday, as maximum temperatures will rise even further on this last day of October. Mild to warm conditions are expected in the middle of the day. Most highs will range between 20 and 25°C, lower in mountainous areas and slightly higher in the southern interior. These values are clearly above average.

And all this with very calm and pleasant weather. Sunshine will dominate, with morning fog and low clouds, especially inland, and high, thin, decorative clouds throughout the afternoon. A light to moderate southerly wind will blow from midday onwards, particularly along the Costa Brava, with slightly choppy seas.

Forecast map for this Friday afternoon.

The Castañada festival will be very calm and dry throughout the region. Calm weather will prevail, with minimum temperatures also above average. Moderately cool temperatures are expected overall, but nothing like the cozy nights earlier in the week. Only the valleys of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees will experience any chill.

A weekend with two sides

On All Saints' Day, a national holiday and the first day of November, calm will prevail, with another day generally free of rain. Temperatures will reach their peak, marking the end of this brief spell of warm weather, with many highs between 21 and 26 °C. Sunshine will be interspersed with some thin, high clouds, especially in the afternoon. In fact, cloud cover will increase from the west during the second half of the day, heralding a front. A few showers are possible in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida towards the end of the day. However, the weekend will end with a change in the weather. On Sunday, a cold front will move across the region, bringing strong mistral and tramontana winds to the south and the Empordà. Colder air will arrive, significantly lowering temperatures and bringing this brief spell of warm weather to a close. Rain is expected throughout the day on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees, and scattered showers in the rest of the mountain range and in areas of Girona and Barcelona, especially in the afternoon.
