ValenciaOn the eve of the celebration of the anniversary of the Dana on October 29, two anonymous witnesses cited by Eldiario.es and The Country provide updates on the actions of the Valencian president, Carlos Mazón, on the day of the catastrophe. Both publications agree that after finishing the almost four-hour lunch with journalist Maribel Vilaplana, at around 6:45 p.m., the head of the Consell did not go to the Palau de la Generalitat to follow the progress of the emergency, as he claimed in his latest version of events, but instead arrived an hour later, specifically at 5:00 a.m. If the information is true, it would show that the PP politician was even more indifferent to the floods that were already affecting many Valencian municipalities, with dozens of people already drowned by that time.

The information fromEldiario.es provides the testimony of a police officer, an expert in bodyguard services and familiar with the arrangements that regularly accompany the head of the Council. "Talking to my colleagues, they tell me that this man, when he finishes eating, goes home. He'll take a shower, sleep it off or something, you know? And the bodyguards then return to the Palau," he says.

The Presidency of the Generalitat (Catalan Government) has denied the information provided by both media outlets and maintains that, upon leaving the restaurant, Mazón "went to his office and continued working." However, the telephone records submitted to the Valencian Parliament show a 37-minute period of silence, between 6:57 p.m. and 7:34 p.m. During that time, former Minister of Justice and the Interior Salomé Pradas called Mazón, but the president did not answer. Furthermore, fifteen days after the cold snap, the Valencian Government destroyed the recordings from the Palau, arguing that no authority had requested them. If they had not been deleted, the veracity of the information provided by both witnesses could now be verified.

The sources cited by Eldiario.es and The Country They also describe a very brief stay by Mazón inside the Palace of the Generalitat, where he would have arrived at 7:45 p.m., and before leaving for the Cecopio, which he did not enter until 8:28 p.m., according to an image from the security cameras.
