Tarragona prepares for the busy weekend of the Santa Tecla festival.
Musical performances, vermouths with rumba and popular culture in abundance
TarragonaTarragona's main festival is almost halfway through, after a first weekend that managed to mobilize many Tarragona residents. Particularly noteworthy were the Peonada, the traditional race in which some 1,100 people participated, and the human tower event on the first Sunday of Santa Tecla, which filled the entire Plaza de la Font and thrilled the audience with its A brilliant performance by the Colla Vella de los Niños de Valls, who downloaded a 5de9f and a beautiful 4de9sf.
The Santa Tecla festival continues and the people of Tarragona are already preparing for the busy weekend, with all eyes on Sunday night, when the beasts and giants enter the Plaza del Rei and the 'Amparito Roca, the favorite pasodoble of the main festival. Before the Amparito agreements are announced, however, major concerts are planned to liven up the last weekend of Santa Tecla.
The festival will continue until Wednesday, September 24, the day of the Santa Tecla Fire Run.
- Music<p>At 7:30 p.m., Compromís' Big Night of Music begins in Francolí Park, where you can see live performances by some of the bands from Sona9, Catalonia's most important emerging music platform. Artists such as Naia, Partiperes, and Miss Bolivia will perform until 2:00 a.m. While the emerging music plays by the river, at the Teatre Auditori Camp de Mart, at 10:00 p.m., a tribute to the prodigious decades of the 70s, 80s, and 90s will begin by the Banda Fòrum TGN. At 10:30 p.m., after the alternative opening speech, the Barracas Tarragona band begins on Passeig des Palmeras, where, among others, Remei from Ca la Fresca will perform.</p>
- Popular culture<p>The Plaza de la Font will be ready at 6:30 p.m. for the Petita Parade, where the little ones will enjoy the procession. Children's Devil Dance, the Petit Drac, the Petit Bou, the Vibriet, the Aligueta, the Mulasseta... During the parade, the Santa Anna section will be marked as a Tranquilo street, with no fireworks and quieter music to suit those who prefer it.</p><p> Continuing with the party for the little ones, at 8:00 p.m. you can participate in one of the rehearsals of the Tarragona Youth Xiquets Colla, at the human tower group's premises.</p>
- Music<p>Saturday the 20th begins with a Rumbera Masterclass, commemorating the 10th annual Santa Tecla Vermouth Rumber, led by Tito and Sergi Félix, brothers from Vergüenza Ajena. The class can be enjoyed in Plaza de la Rumba starting at 10:00 a.m. The festivities will continue in Plaza de les Cols, where the Bumt Big Band will offer their traditional vermouth concert for the Santa Tecla festivities. There will be more than 40 musicians on stage, a great vermouth, and an unbeatable repertoire to enjoy this concert, performed by the adult band of the Tarragona Union Musical Band School. Before the evening, the Rumber Ptardeo is still scheduled, starting at 5:00 p.m. in Plaza de la Rumba. At 8:00 p.m., a concert by Guiu Cortés vs. El Niño de la Hipoteca (€18) is scheduled for the Cau venue, and at the same time, a concert by Miki Núñez will begin in the Parc del Francolí, presenting his album <em>La Partida</em> , the first one entirely in Catalan. After him, Cesc Triquell will play on the same stage, and at midnight, it will be time to dance covers with Akelarre.</p><p> Before that, however, at 11:00 p.m., you should visit Plaza Corsini, where the Maresme Musical Group Band and the Tarragona Musical Union Band will offer a musical showdown that will leave no one indifferent.</p>
- Popular culture<p>At 11:00 a.m. at Cós del Bou, you can find out what it feels like to be the bearer of the Saint Roch Dragon, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. You can also try the Little Dragon, which has already reached 25 years of age.</p><p> At the same location, at 1:00 p.m., there will be "the wildest vermouth" with live music from PD Pussies, to round off the dragons' birthday celebrations.</p>
- Music<p>On Sunday at noon, in Cós del Bou, <span style="background-color: rgb(248, 248, 248); color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">the new duo of Nanos Nous and their companions will greet the human tower builders and the people of Tarragona who will be enjoying vermouth on the same street. The vermouth will be accompanied by music by PD Murddock and DJ D-Broma.</span></p><p> Starting at 6:15 p.m., Francolí Park will once again be filled with music from artists such as Ñekü, AYRYN (7:00 p.m.), Pol Bordas (8:00 p.m.), Andrea Grau (9:00 p.m.), Edu Esteve (10:15 p.m.) and Suu (11:45 p.m.).</p><p> You should also stop by the Caja de Música - Espai Tabacalera, where the 35th edition of La Hora del Jazz will be held at 7:00 p.m., with the Marian Barahona Trio (€8).</p><p> At Barracas Tarragona, on Paseo de las Palmeras, the concert by Fetus, the folk punk group from La Bisbal de l'Empordà, will begin at 11:00 p.m.</p>
- Popular culture<p>At 11:30 on Rambla Nova, in front of the Metropol Theater, the traditional sardana dance is celebrated with the song La Principal de Tarragona.</p><p> This year, the Ball de Dames i Vells will hold two sessions: the first will be at the Sant Salvador NOA Civic Center at 1:00 p.m., while the second will be the following Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Ball de Dames i Vells square.</p><p> At 5:30 p.m., the giants will begin to arrive in the Plaza de la Font, shortly before the opening speech is recited from the Town Hall balcony, this year by Viviana de Salvador Deop.</p><p> Without leaving the Plaça de la Font, at 7:15 p.m., the Tradiband will announce the departure of the giants and the Nanos, who will begin their first dance to the rhythm of the Amparito at 8:45 p.m. At midnight, the culmination of the popular procession will be the Baixada del Àliga, the Old Giants, the Mulassa, and the bands in the Pla de la Seu.</p>
