What else can happen to Real Madrid?
Beware of asking yourself what else can happen to Real Madrid. Because what is coming now, the most immediate, is to visit the Camp Nou and try to compete against a Barça that wants to celebrate the title in front of its fans. And the state of decomposition of Arbeloa's team is such that a defeat, a humiliating defeat, is one of the options. Especially considering that at least one undisputed midfielder, Fede Valverde, will not be there due to a medical absence after having fought with Tchouaméni, having slipped, having hit a table, and even having lost consciousness. If the Frenchman also does not play due to a technical decision, as a punishment – which, on the other hand, would be logical –, Madrid will start at a disadvantage from the outset.
The mess, the chaos, is total. Not only because of the serious fight on Thursday, which already started on Wednesday and which neither Arbeloa nor any footballer was able to stop – which shows an unacceptable lack of leadership – but also because we have learned about Rüdiger's slap to Carreras, that Ceballos is sidelined, that Carvajal barely speaks to the coach and that there are two groups in the dressing room: those who were in favor of Xabi Alonso, led by Mbappé – who also doesn't speak to Bellingham – and Vinícius, Valverde and the Englishman, who wanted a change on the bench. And as if that wasn't enough in the circus they have set up at Valdebebas, Mbappé himself, fresh from his vacation on a yacht in Italy, has been coming and going from the Sports City for two days laughing about who knows what.
The one who remains missing is the one most responsible for everything that is happening at the club: Florentino Pérez. It was he who dismissed Alonso and gave accolades to Arbeloa, whose main merit was being likable, and who has already made it clear that he is not capable of taming a circus where lions have eaten him alive, lions whom Florentino has pampered and treated like kings. And now, on top of that, Mourinho is being mentioned, a toxic character, past his prime, who didn't even succeed in his previous stint, no matter how much the official propaganda insists on presenting him as a successful man.
The worst thing is the feeling that no one is at the helm and the next thing that is sure to happen is the visit to Barcelona. And yes, we can still make more of a fool of ourselves.
