Sabadell cannot with Andorra in a match with little football
Ferran Costa's team, despite making changes to the starting team, fails to break the defense of an unimaginative Andorra
SabadellFirst draw of the season for Sabadell playing at home, after a very tense duel with few chances against Andorra (0-0). Both teams barely had any chances, beyond a high shot from López Pinto for the home players in the second half. Already in the build-up, both coaches had made it clear that it would be a special match, because for many years Ferran Costa and Carles Manso had worked together. Costa, in fact, had been the coach of Andorra two seasons ago, when he was hired by Gerard Piqué, who was present this Sunday at the Nova Creu Alta.
All of this resulted in a very physical match, with many fouls, and it never felt like the match official had control of what was happening on the pitch. The arlequinada fans would end up whistling loudly at the Andalusian José Luis Guzmán Mansilla, one of those referees with indecipherable criteria.
Ferran Costa made changes to the team and opted for the first time for a 4-3-3 without three central defenders. Eneko at fullback and the striker Nicolai Obolski were starters for the first time, but the Russian failed to break through the Andorran defense. Joel Priego started very sharp, but it was too physical a match and with long balls. The visiting striker Jordi Cano didn't do anything either, seeing how Óscar Sanz beat him time and time again. The former Europa player didn't have his day in a match where the Sabadell native Edgar also signed a great defensive performance, winning all the duels. It was a match in which the defenders ended up imposing their law, while the midfielders, too nervous, did not bring order, with the exception of some isolated chances from the local Urri or the visitor Marc Domènech.
It would be Sabadell who would always show more desire to win against the more defensive version of the Andorrans, incapable of making a single shot on goal or winning a single corner. Sabadell would have 11, but failed to beat goalkeeper Owono, who started ahead of the injured Pau López. In the last minute Miki Codina would still try, but Sabadell has a lot of heart and intensity, but lacks a striker who makes a difference. Yannis Rahmani and Alain Ribeiro, who would come on in the second half, would not do anything out of the ordinary either.
The match was initially scheduled for this Saturday at half past six, but the alarm due to the severe storm postponed the match until this Sunday. The Andorran team had to spend the night in Sabadell. In the end, the wait did not serve to see any goals. Sabadell will play their next match on Saturday at Ceuta's ground, the most complicated trip of the season for logistical reasons. Ferran Costa's team will fly this Thursday to Jerez, the city where they will spend the night and train. On Friday, the 'arlequinat' team will hold a second training session in Algeciras, before taking the ferry to Ceuta, where they will spend the night before the match. On Saturday, after playing, they will return to Algeciras and on Sunday they will hold one last training session before returning from Jerez. Almost four days away from home to play a League match. The club will take advantage of this to carry out reseeding work at the Nova Creu Alta.
