It's official. Robert Lewandowski will leave Barça on June 30. Four seasons later, the forward has decided not to renew his contract, which expired at the end of the season.

The Polish footballer leaves the Catalan club after 119 goals in 191 matches, a figure that makes him the fourteenth top scorer in Barça's history with only four years at the club.

"I leave with the feeling of having completed the mission. Four seasons, three championships," says Lewandowski in the farewell message he published on Instagram, where he thanks the fans and has a special recognition for president Laporta, for having signed him and given him "the opportunity to live the most special chapter of his career". "Catalonia is my place in the world," he concludes.

Lewandowski arrived in the summer of 2022 at a Barça in reconstruction, led by Xavi Hernández. He came from Bayern Munich, where he played a large part of his career. With the Blaugrana team, he has won three leagues, one cup, and three Spanish Super Cups.

Hansi Flick heaps praise

Hansi Flick has praised Lewandowski minutes after he communicated his departure from Barça to his teammates in the locker room. “It is a privilege to work with him. Every day he does his best to be at the highest level,” expressed the coach, who has confirmed that he will be a starter against Betis this Sunday (21:15 h).

“We will miss him, but we will have to find a replacement”, added the coach, who does not expect any other farewell in the coming hours.

Flick also spoke about the motivation for the match against Betis, with the possibility of winning all 19 home league games. “You always need goals and we want to win all the league games at home”.
