BarcelonaBarça visits Atlético de Madrid in a duel to decide the lead of La Liga. It will be the first clash between both teams this season, after a last campaign in which the Madrid side eliminated the Catalans from both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

Hansi Flick's side approaches the match after having regained good sensations in the Champions League. Barça overcame Aston Villa 3-0 at the Spotify Camp Nou in the fourth matchday of the league phase, with a brace from Raphinha and a goal from Lamine Yamal. In La Liga, they have 30 points out of a possible 33, with ten victories and only one defeat. The team has scored 46 goals in the first eleven matchdays and has only conceded 12. Atlético, on the other hand, arrives at the duel with 28 points, after having won nine of the eleven matches played.

Diego Simeone's team also played a Champions League match midweek, but with a result opposite to Barça's. Atlético lost 0-2 against Bayern Munich at the Metropolitano, with goals from Karl and Laimer, and let slip the opportunity to add points on a European matchday in which the Catalans did manage to secure the victory. In La Liga, however, the mattress makers arrive with good momentum. Their last match ended in a 0-2 victory against Levante, and the team is on a streak of seven consecutive victories in the championship.

Barça will have an important absence: Rodri will not be able to play after medical tests confirmed a small injury to the hamstring of his right leg. The midfielder was substituted at halftime against Aston Villa and the club has not yet specified the recovery time. In return, Flick regains Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen. For the mattress makers' part, Simeone has a very sensitive absence in defense: the Argentine Cuti Romero. In return, the Argentine coach could have Johnny Cardoso available.
